Do items come off your credit report if you paid the account in full or does it remain on there as a closed account? I have an old electric bill which I intend to pay but it is showing Account charge off , do i just send them a debt validation letter and just pay after they send me the bill or something?
Thank you all in advance for you time and help.

To site administrator: I created an account a while back and forgot my username and password can i get it sent to me please?

Actually it is never too late to dispute account if you can convince data furnisher to correct status. If that cell phone is showing open account and you are not paying on it monthly,it is reporting incorrectly. Instead of a pay for delete, try a goodwill letter.Just a basic letter saying I made a mistake but would like to fix this since I paid you in full and it would generate goodwill for both of us. You can send debt validation but if original creditor has the account(electric),a pay for delete may get it off report.

Call the phone company and tell them that they are showing up in your credit report with an open account. They will mark it closed and update the bureaus.

Is your electric bill now with any collection agency? If yes, get the debt validated before you pay them. After the account is cleared, they will mark the account as "paid collections" with the bureaus.
