Do you have to be past due on payments before the credit consolidation company will help you out?
Does it get reported to the credit bureau that you have done a debt consolidation etc.?

I've been able to put both past due and current creditors that I feared I would get past due with soon into a debt consolidation program. You should be able to do that, too. And depending on the creditor, they may report to the credit bureaus you're in debt consolidation, they may not.
