Go to your bank and tell them that you revoked the ach authorization. Show them the letters as proof. Make them reverse the charges.
I'm sorry this happened. Most banks have policies that allow them to force open a closed account if any ach transactions go though for a period of time.
But your best bet right now is with the bank. Dispute, dispute, dispute! Tell them that these companies no longer had authorization and don't accept anything less from them but a reversal. If you need more help pertaining to the banking issues, I know quite a bit so post here or pm me and I can help you sort things out.
I try to post this everytime I advise someone to close thier bank account:
Banks will reopen a closed account if an ach transaction is put through usually within 30 days, but some banks as long as 60 days. You need to stress to your bank that unauthorized transactions will probably try to go through. Explain your situation. Most banks can and will freeze your account so nothing at all can go through. But don't do this over the phone, it really needs to be in person.

Wish I had know this when I closed the account. I'm at work right not and it feels like the world is crashing in around me, because honestly I'm scared to death. This is the deperate situation that I think not only myself but other's feel themselves surrounded by and can figure no other way out but to borrow money they really can't afford to pay back. I've got emails I sent to them and where they replied back to me with 2 of them, Sonic Cash never acknowledge mine nor returned any calls, although I did email them revoking. I know I sound somewhat dazed but I just am scared like I've never been scared. I just keep seeing my little girl's face when there's no lights in the house. I really appreciate your help goudah, just wish I didn't need any. I feel like the worst mother since Joan Crawford right now.

I don't know how far away you work from your bank, but maybe try to see if they will let you leave for a short time to take care of this. Make sure you print off copies of the letters you send the pdl companies showing that you revoked authroization to debit your account and then also talk to the person in payroll to see what happened. Might have been something that the direct deposit was already in the works and could not be stopped for this week. I do not know how your company is, but because of all this, maybe they could give you an "employee loan", just enough to cover what you need to cover and then take payments out of you pay check to pay them back. Some companies offer that. But I would get started on getting this taken care of. And don't feel like a bad mother. You did what you had to do and thought everything was ok. Don't beat yourself up over this.

Sandy - We've all been there. Things happen.
Just stay calm at the bank. You may try to tell them that you don't accept that deposit (you dd paycheck) and tell them you want it sent back. I don't know if they will do that, but it's worth a try. Once they send it back you work can cut you a paper check.
First I want to say thanks for the help, lord knows I need it. S
First I want to say thanks for the help, lord knows I need it. So, Friday morning when I got off work I went straight to the bank, and I'll try to tell you what they told me without getting too confused. As of Fri. morning these withdrawls were "ach memos" meaning that they would not be "hard posted" until Fri. night. So the lady told me to come back in Monday morning and fill out something called an affidavit for peanilty of purgiry (I'm not too good at spelling, huh?). Then after I do that I guess they put the money back in my account, and then I have to go and draw the money out of the account again, close the account and be sure to tell the teller when I do, to mark the account "DO NOT REOPEN" Which in my opinion is silly, because if I closed the account to begin with wouldn't it stand to reason that I didn't want it reopened? Now if I weren't so upset and scared about the bills I might find this part funny, but it seems if my employer had not deposited the check in that account then when those withdrawls were presented to the bank they would have sent them back "account closed" but because they did that's what reopened my account and allowed the activity to occur. Now I have a couple of questions that I should have asked at the bank but just didn't think of them. What all is involed in filling one of these affidaviats out, and how long does it take for the bank to put the money back in the account? Unfourntely my employer doesn't do the loan thing, and I'm still wondering how I'm going to pay the stupid bills. One more thing, once you revoke authorization to withdraw from someone's account, legally they can't do it any longer, correct. I know they will anyway, but LEGALLY they aren't supposed to right? But as I said if my employer had deposited my check in my new account, everything they tried to withdraw would have been sent back and my account wouldn't have been reopened to begin with.

What a mess!
Luckily your bank is being helpful, it shouldn't take too long for the money to come back in, I remember last year I had a dispute over a PDL withdrawal and the bank said I'd get my money back(minus $20 fee) within 72 hours. It only took about 24 if I remember correctly.
As far as your direct deposit..I work in HR, and it really takes time to change that..In my company, and I think this is pretty standard, The checks are cut and I'm done with payroll 5 days before payday. There is NO way for me to change direct deposit info unless I have at least a week notice, sometimes even more.

First off,
This forum is a no-Sandy bashing zone, OK? And that means you too, Sandy. So stop that. We are going to help you get through this and now we have to fix it. You are going to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again, like the song says.
Monday morning, you are going to be in line at that bank when it opens and tell the teller you need to speak with a supervisor if you have to to get your money back. Bring all of your letters like other people on the forums have told you and take names.
Then make a call to your HR and get that mess straight. There is light at the end of the tunnel and you WILL GET THROUGH THIS!! And you have to, for your daughter!!
We are here for you...

Not sure how long your bank will take, but when we have gone in first thing in the morning, they had the transaction reversed by that afternoon. I would also call the utility company and see if they can extend you for a short time longer. Explain the situation to them or at least see if they will make payment arrangements with you. I have had to do that many times, get extensions or make arrangments with my utility company. The paperwork you have to fill out is not that complicated and should not take any time to get done, but do make sure you have copies of your letters. Sending prayers and positive energy your way!

You are so welcome!!! If I understand you right, you are a single mom? Been there and done that. I had 2 kids and it was tough, but I made it and so will you. The rough times will make you a stronger person. God bless you!

Sandy after you get all this straightened out you will need to let us know who the companies are, how much you borrowed, how much you paid back, what state you are in, so then we can help you get rid of these jerks. Hang in there, it will be ok!

I'm in the great state of Arkansas. And thank you, thank you I would love to have help making sure I'm figuring this correctly, not so good at math. I have 3 loans out all internet, but so I don't confuse myself I thought I would give them to you one at a time if that's alright?
So here goes, Payday-Loan-Yes borrowed $400.00,
Paid:
120.00 on Jan. 25
170.00 on Feb. 8
105.00 on Feb. 22
At this point I caculated that I owed them a balance of $45.00, and on Feb 28 sent them an email revoking authorization and also told them I would send that balance of 45.00 via money order to them afterwards having my account PIF, received an email back from them basically telling me no way.
Then this past Thurs, March 8, they took another 155.00, this is the one I'm going to the bank about Monday and having the money put back in my account after I file the affidivat. Which should have be still having a balance of $45.00 with them which I'm more than willing to pay. So does this sound correct to ya'll?(do I sound like I'm from Arkansas?) Please, I'm open to all corrections, comments, and suggestions. And when your ready for the next loan and amounts let me know, I accept all help. You are all just GREAT!
And yes you are correct I'm a single mother, and every single mo
And yes you are correct I'm a single mother, and every single mother out there knows how hard it is. Then when father forgets he needs to help support his child, it gets even harder. I hope I don't sound too bitter, but honestly sometimes it's hard not to be. I do consider myself the lucky one though, I get to be with my daughter all the time!
Sandy, You might want to consider closing the checking acco
Sandy,
You might want to consider closing the checking account after you file the affadavit, they will continue to debit your account. Close it and open a new one. Your bank should be ok with that.
You can list all three loans, I had 10 when I came here, down to 3 now.
Sandy: The question I have is how long ago did you change you
Sandy:
The question I have is how long ago did you change your bank account information with your job. If you changed it the same week that you changed your account and the same week as payday then most employers have not updated their information by then.
Make sure that your employer has your account information now and checked to see if your check will be coming to your new account or that they will cut you a hard check (which is what most of them do). Next, tell your bank of the situation and file an affidavit for stop of unauthorized debit to that account.
Also, talk to each of your pdls and tell them your sitaution and see if you can work out a payment arrangement with them explaining to them that you have closed your account and that you request a cease and desist order that requires them to no longer contact you or try to remove money from your account without your permission.
Check you state's laws regarding payday loans. You might be able to get your money back in terms of your loan. I hope that this information helps.

Yes, I am going to close it again. It's funny I have to reclose an account on an account that I had closed once already. I had no idea they would reopen it, if I had already closed it. I'm still learning.
Okay, my second loan is with mypaydayloan(aka Zarvad III) Loan was for $300.00, and I've paid them $450.00. I revoked authorization, and believe it or not they were the 1 place that didn't hit my account after I told them not too. Now all I was asking that my account with them be marked PIF, I didn't want a refund just PIF. They wrote me back saying no to this but since I was a customer in good standing they would waive any fees and just have me pay back the $300.00 principal, I emailed them back and told them no thank you, then they emailed me saying ok we will settle for $150.00 and again I said no, that I had paid back way over what I legally was obligated to. Well now someone in collections named Janelle is calling my house, and work (after I told them not to I might add), she even emailed me and in the subject line it says it'a a Hallmark greeting from Janelle. God they think people are stupid.
Now the third Loan, Sonic Cash, loan was for $200.00 and up until Thurs., March 8 I had paid them a total of $120.00. When I sent them the letter revoking authoriztion I also stated that I wanted to pay the balance of what I was obligated to pay which I had figured at $100.00. But they completely ignored my email, I even tried calling them but had to leave a voicemail and noone returned my call. I was going to send a certified letter but it wouldn't make it to them before the day came for them to hit my account. Anyway they hit my account this past Thursday for $240.00, which the lady told me at the bank since I had emailed and tried to call I could go ahead and file an one on this withdrawl too. So hopefully I'll get that money back also then as I figure I will still owe them $100.00 which I will send them via money order.
That's my story, tell me does it sound like I've got it straight or do I need to do some rethinking?
On Monday I'm going to contact the Arkansas banking dept for you
On Monday I'm going to contact the Arkansas banking dept for you. The way I read the law it only applies to check cashers . . . . It's possible that you may only be responsible to pay back the principle amounts . . . . Plus they aren't allowed to rollover, so you've got them breaking the law right there. But some states have holes in their laws that allow companies that are licensed in another state to give out loans according to the laws of the state they are licensed in. So sometimes just looking at the laws doesn't tell the whole story.
I'm trying to get this info for each state. Currently I only have a few states done, but soon I should have them all. I'll just move AK to the top of the to do list. But I won't be able to get the correct info until Monday when the government offices open.

At that point, I hope that maybe I may be able to help someone out when they are feeling just as I am now. So, come Monday morning I go to the bank, fill out whatever they want me to, to have my money replaced then I close my account and hopefully they will transfer my money to my new account at the other bank. Now do I close the old account after I get the money put back or close it again when I fill out the affivdavit's, and just ask the bank to transfer it into my new account. I just want to make sure once I get it put back, that noone can take it again.
What will probably happen is that once you fill out the papers t
What will probably happen is that once you fill out the papers the bank will do a provisional credit to your account. You will be able to access the money then, but I don't think they will let you close the account until their "invesigation" is completed. Once they have investigated the fact that you revoked your authorization for these companies to debit, the provisional credit goes away and you can close the account.
That's the usual process. Your bank may be different, and maybe they will let you close the account because of your situation. If the account can't be closed yet, ask them to put a hard hold or freeze on the account (once you get the money out) until you can close it. Otherwise, once the pdl's realize they don't have your money, they will hit the account again.
I'd also ask them when exactly the money will be put back. Tell them you are worried that these companies will try to debit again once they realize the first try didn't work. It may take a couple days for them to do the provisional credit, but you do not want that money to sit in the account for a minute longer then it has to. I doubt they'd do this, but ask them if you could get the money back another way, or maybe ask if they could call you once the credit is made. Or just keep checking if you have online access.

How about you just come to Arkansas, go to the bank with me that way I can't mess it up. Hehehe! No I think I'll be alright. I just take alot of notes with me is all. But I'll do it because I gotta have my money back.

Hey Sandy,
You've gotten great advice from everyone here, and let me throw one more idea into the mix. If your bank does have to keep your account open to do their investigation, ask if you can do what's called a "hard hold" on it--which means that the only person authorized to do debits on it is yourself and any other debits will have to be authorized by you before the bank can pay them. That way, you can say no to the PDL's when they try and debit. Just a thought...

I'm in Oregon, so that would be a bit of a drive . . . . Taking notes is a good idea . . . Some bankers won't suggest these things to you, so you'd never even know that they are an option.
Just be firm with them. There are no other authorized transactions coming through the account.
But it sounds as though your bank may be fairly easy to work with (as banks go), so hopefully it will all go smoothly.
If you have any more questions about it let us know!

Well, I'll be getting off work in the morning and heading straight to the bank, I'll be sure to let ya'll know how things went. Keep the good thoughts going I'm not good at this, but I'm sure gonna try.

Just got done at the bank, I thought I would feel better when I did this, but I'm worried instead. Hopefully, after the money is back in my acct. I'll feel better about it. But basically they filled out the statements and I signed them, and the lady told me I should have the money back in the acct. in the morning, then I could come back in and close the acct. again, and meanwhile no activity is being allowed on the acct. When I got home there was a message left on my machine, but did not say who the company was, only that it was impartive that I call them back quickly. I'm scared it's one of the PDL's and after the bank thing my energy is gone. I tried looking up the number but not sure I even did that right, because there was no results for the number. Has anyone ever heard of this number 1-866-210-4516?. I tried looking on the Arkansas Banking Dept. website to see if I could find more info, but all that stuff is Latin to me. Goudah, did you find out anything more, I don't want to impose by any means, just want to make sure I know what I'm talking about. And thanks for all the positive energy I made it through at the bank, but don't you know I was being talked about when I left.
I've sent them an email, but I haven't heard anything back yet.
I've sent them an email, but I haven't heard anything back yet. If you'd like I could call them, but I prefer email because that way you can see exactly what they said, as opposed to my wording of what they say.
It probably is a pdl calling you back, although I don't think they would know the charges are being reversed yet. Don't call them back until you are ready, they may threaten you, and if you aren't prepared it can be very scary.

Sandy - I really think that they are starting to see alot of people coming in having the same problem that you and many of us here have had with the pdls. And you got the job done just fine! If they talk - let them - just remember anyone i only a pay check away from where we are. You are licky - my bank would not close my account or block andy of the pdls from debitting, the bank told me that it was my fault for giving permission to the pdls to debit. The refused to revoke anything even after I showed them letters of revocation to all ot the pdls and the laws in the state of Ohio showing that these places were illegal. They said that I could not prove fraud until criminal charges had been filed. When they finally closed my account I was -2400.00. There is no way that I will be able to pay that back.

I had a similar experience as irish at my bank. Although they helped at first, they soon stopped and my account went -1500 from all the fees. IPDL's tried debiting every day, usually two or three times.
I'm very encouraged that your bank is helping. You are off to a good start.

NTO means nothing to me, the least the man could done was state what it was in refernce to.I would know what to expect when I call then. But anyway, yes the bank was helpful, but I don't think they had encountered this before, at least at the branch I was at, they called the main branch and whoever they were talking to there was telling them there were hundred's of these places and she didn't think any internet loan company's had a license in Arkansas. And they had been trying to debit the account in checks too, but since I called Friday they hadn't let anything go through, which I appreciated that. It does feel some better now that I did that much, so should I try contacting these PDL's to see if they are more willing to work with me or do I just wait on them? God as my witness this ain't happening to me again!

Yep, I told the lady my situation and that the bank is putting the money back in my account but it would be tomorrow before it was posted and I would have access. Even told her I would pay it some time tomorrow as soon as I could, and all she could offer me was "pay it as early as I could, but that was still no way for her to stop the disconnect, hopefully I could get it paid before someone was here to turn the power off." Which makes me pretty upset because I personally know 2 people who are like 3 months behind and haven't paid anything and their power is still on. If I can't pay the bill before they shut it off guess I'll just have to come up with the $25.00 to have it turned back on when I can pay it. Until then I'm swallowing my pride just in case it gets turned off and ask my daughter's dad to let her stay with him. But if I do that, I'll think of something to tell him besides I can't pay the bill. Why I feel like I have to make an excuse to him, I don't know. If he would have paid the child support he owed, then I wouldn't be in this mess to start with. When I get this straight, he's the next project I'm working on. He owes be over $2000.00 in child support. I'm not trying to do any men bashing here, so when I say this I mean it for ANYONE who is supposed to be paying support. Don't be a deadbeat, pay what the court ordered you to pay, it takes two to make a child and BOTH of you owe it to help take care of that child. Part of taking care of the child even includes making sure that child has the basic's. I would include electric in there as a basic need. I have been paying everything for my daughter, the only thing the child support really covered was her daycare/preschool, so when that stopped that was up to me too. Now I found myself in a situation that is getting the better of me. And that concludes my sermon for today. I'll check with the SA and Goodwill, but I would imagaine that by the time I could contact them, it would be too late. But I will try anyway.
