I need help w/payday loans

First, pdls are illegal in NC. Second, you need to close and open a new account to get control of your finances back. Third, you need to file a complaint with your state's Attorney General's office ASAP. Also, if you have been paying on these pdls for sometime and only paying roll over fees it could be that you have already paid the principal back and start demanding they mark your accounts paid in full. Be prepared for some threatening phone calls stating you are going to be arrested. You are not going to be arrested they are lying.

So, Payday Loans are illegal in North Carolina? WOW! It's a stupid question but I still have to ask - Do these Payday Loan companies know this?
Also - all I have to do is contact the Attorney General's office and inform them of the situation I am in?

Yes, they are illegal. Most of these companies do not care and they are going to threaten you and say they can loan you money. Go to your AG's website and see if you can file coplaints online or download a complaint form and mail it in. You definately need to get complaints in against these companies. Have you blocked them from your account or just close and open a new account? If not they would be the best way to gain control of your finances again.

Have you read the laws in your state regarding payday loans? They are illegal in many states.

I would sit down and examine how many debts that you have. Then figure out whether you can contact each loan company to make payment arrangements using the Do It Yourself method on this website or find a good debt consolidation company in your area. There are many companies recommended on this message board that will be able to help you.

I find that consolidation was a very good option for me considering that I had these PDLs and they were not going on my credit report but I was having such a hard time paying for them.

When I was unable to pay back my PDLs and they had refused to make any kind of arrangements with me, I decided that I needed to go ahead with debt consolidation. Since then, I have had little to no problem with these companies except for one who calls every so often to get money from me. I find that I have a little more (not a lot) money in my wallet each month and I have not been having shell out money robbing Peter to pay Paul, Mary, Sue and Jane. And then it was just one payment and not a loan. I had finally decided to take charge back of my life and I haven't looked back.

i have filed my complaint with my att. general, and he has called me and told me to keep tight. he said that he will take care of this for me. i know that i keep being told that they can't do anything to me, but they keep e-mailing me and calling me at work. i know that i have paid quite a bit, but i closed my account back in oct. when i was having problems. o asked the payday people how come everything was fine until they no longer had acsess to my money. now im being threatend all the time now. i wonder what the att. general will do for me. he said that most of these companies will write them off once they receive something from him. they say that i owe all this money and i know i don't i still have my old bank statements and they show that money was coming from my account, but that account has been long closed now. i hope these people can't hurt me in anyway.

If your AG is saying he will take care of it I would trust him. Most companies will leave you alone when you get your AG involved. That's one of the reasons it's so important to file the complaints. The other reason is the more complaints they have, the more likely they will be to do something about these places.
