I was pretty ignorant when I first came here, and had no clue what to do. Someone on this board who is now a close personal friend basically took me by the hand and showed me what to do. Thanks to her I was able to pay off one PDL, get a refund on another, and have the other 4 marked paid in full.

I am just starting to send out my letters and make arrangements on the ones that I legitimately owe...My goal is to be out of this mess by fall....

I think I have most of them stopped for right now. Fighting with Route66. I have just followed all the wonderful advice and used the information I found on this forum and have tried to stick to my guns. I can't say I am 100% in the clear yet, since I do not know if anything has been sent to a collection agency yet or anything like that, but feel I am getting there. Just taking one day at a time.

I am still living paycheck to paycheck, well taking anything that we have extra and putting it towards payday loans. we are almost half way there. Plus hubby took an extra job to pay them off also but now we have to go one step back because we owe the IRS a bunch of money because we took out a hardship loan from his profit sharing at work which hit us with a penalty BIG TIME. So I would rather have a payday lender after me than the IRS so I will pay them first lol. But other than that we expect to be payday loan free by June (so that means we have 11 more to pay by then OMG lol)

puddlejmpr ~ call the IRS and see if you can work out a payment plan, even if it is $50 a month. They are pretty easy to work with. Might not put as big a stain on your pockets then if you can work out a payment plan. Worth a shot! When we moved to NC, we ended up oweing the IRS every year (until this year). We made payment arrangements and got them paid off. It took us a little bit of time, but it worked out. Won't hurt to try.

I agree..The IRS is easy to work with. Sometimes they'll even stop accruing interest on the debt after you make the frst payment. Give them a call.
