Is it possible to open up a new bank account if I have 2 past payday loans, which the other account is already closed. But I moved to a new state and need to open up a new account, no not to use payday loans, but to have a checking account. Should I expect problems?

Was your account in the negative when it was closed? Or maybe even after it was closed? I am actually in the same situation as you so I'm not much help, but I do know that there are some forums/ blogs out there describing what banks will still let you get an account without using the chexs system (not sure how to spell it). I'm sure someone who knows more will help you, or you can search for that list of banks for your state. Hope that helps!

Are you only closing your account to delay paying back the payday loan? That alone can hike up penalty fees, especially if your account is already in the red.

What payday loan companies were you with? There's a post that goudah2424 made about financial institutions that will approve you for a new account. You can check it out here at the link below.

It depends on whether your new bank uses cheksystems because that is where the closed account may appear.

The bank I have does not use Cheksystems but I tried to open my account at another bank and they did. THey told me I can open a savings account with their company and in six months they can evaluate whether I should be blessed with a checking account. I told them I will just head over to the credit union who opened me an account.

I also decided to keep my account at the bank that I had. You are just going to have to look around for a bank.

Good luck to you.

Try a credit union. I had a problem a few years ago when I was robbed and they cleaned out my bank account over night. When I woke up the next morning I realized what was done, but by the time I was able to report it the damage was done, they cleaned me out. (I had alot of bills out and of course those checks all bounced to high heaven and back again) Ended up costing me a bundle, the bank was of no help. Long story short, I was reported to ChexSystem, but I was able to open a savings and checking with a credit union through my employer.
