Just an FYI,

the spammers are causing old threads to be resurrected. I've seen several replies to such threads where the last real post is several months old.

All of the mods are quite busy with this subject. We really need more boards assigned to us as a lot of the spam is occurring in boards that myself and other mods that are here have no mod rights. I will send this message to the boss. I have already posted in the spam post about getting either more mods or mods having to accept more boards to get this mess under control.

Only thing I could add is check date before responding to the post.

The spammers are going to hit any thread, old or new. This has been going on for as long as I have been here. They will post like crazy for a while, then things will settle down. We have alot of mods to delete-the problem can come when there is spamm coming faster than you can deltet. One night in particuliar, there were numerous mods on, but someone kept posting in all different threads faster than we could lock a thread or delete. The spammers are always going to be aroung. When I see spam, I put it in the Pub reporting spam, that I am not moderating in. If I see a mod logged on that does mod in that forum, I PM them and ask them to remove it,or PM Mike if no one is around. Mike is around alot and keeps a pretty close eye on this..KAren

The spammers are trying to be clever on us. We are using various programming techniques to stop the spams and the real posts do not get affected. The guys are working hard on this and we will definitely get a result soon.

I deeply apologize for all the inconvenience caused. This problem won't continue long.

Thanks
Mike

Mike,
There is nothing to be sorry for. Any website is always a work in progress. Spam bots are a evolving thing that everyone on the internet must deal with.I dedicate about 400mb of physical memory on my laptop just to keep it from receiving anything bad from internet. You and your crew are doing an amazing job with the traffic that we receive here.
