If I remember correctly, the bankruptcy stays on the report under judgements for 10 years. But the reporting of the accounts falls off after 7 years.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Correct information stays on report 7 years from date of first delinquency.Bankruptcy stays for 10 years. Public records stay 7 years from date of initial placement.
Positive closed accounts usually stay for ten years after date of account closure.

If public records stay for 7 years, then how can the bankruptcy legally stay for 10 years? It is public record.

I just noticed that there are a few things that have fallen off of my credit report and then there are some things that are still on there. Most of the stuff that I had filed for bankruptcy on have fallen off but there are still things that are on there and I wanted to know when they were going to be fall off.
Maybe I should request a copy of my credit reports to see. I know that Transunion has dates on there when they will fall off but I don't know about the rest of them.

Alexandra,
Please go to www.annualcreditreport.com and order a copy from each bureau. For date of removal,we must follow fcra law. It states 7 years from date of first delinquency. The credit bureaus are legally liable and required to have this info. If it is not on your report, call the bureaus and ask. On the bankruptcy,I will pm you a copy of a ftc opinion letter relating to bankruptcy removal time limits.

Doesn't the 7 years start 6 months after the date of first delinquency for credit reports? I thought I'd heard that somewhere . . . .

goudah,I have heard that also. I know it takes 180 days before credit card company does a charge off. I read somewhere where they have tried to add 6 months. I have also seen bad stuff removed early(like 6yr 9mth) with a dispute telling bureau that account is obsolete.
The Ftc site has staff letters written as well as full fcra text. I can pm link to letters or yall can dig it up in your own time.

My Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is scheduled to continue on record until July 2013, and I filed in July, 2006 -
7 years. I don't know if it's the same for Chapter 7.
Judgements showing on my report are also scheduled to continue for 7 years.
Just a question, does anyone know if all of these debts that are included in my Chapter 13 plan will show as satisfied debts under my plan once all the payments are done?
I'm a little concerned about my mortgage - so far, nothing has been paid on it, according to my credit report. I know the attorney gets paid his fees first - he told me so right from the start - and his fees are $3,000, but I've been paying since July of 2006, and I'm paying $184 a week. I'm thinking I'm going to make a phone call tomorrow and find out if I'm missing something somewhere. My credit report shows my mortgage as being WAY overdue, with a much larger balance than I had to begin with.
I would definatly check that out . . . . I'd think that at $184
I would definatly check that out . . . . I'd think that at $184 a week the lawyers fees would've been paid off a little after 4 months . . . . So I'd think either your mortgage company isn't updating the info on your report, or there's a bigger problem . . ..

thanks, Goudah - I'm thinking it's just that the mortgage company isn't updating to the credit bureaus regularly. I know some companies only do it periodically, not every month. I haven't received my 2nd 6 month report from the Trustee yet, so hopefully that will show something being done towards this. I will call the attorney's office tomorrow, though, and ask about it, because seeing that larger balance on my credit report kind of unsettled me a bit. As far behind as it shows my mortgage being now, if something happened where I couldn't follow through with my Chapter 13 plan, I'd have no way in heck of catching up.
