Garnishments are federally mandated. For a consumer debt only one at a time can be garnished. The max allowed for consumer debts in all states except for Texas, Pa, and the Carolinas(garnishments for consumer debts are illegal in these states) is 25% of your disposable income..which is after taxes and any voluntary deductions you might have.

One at a time, as fins said, is correct. I learned this the hard way. Had a guy with almost perfect credit take a loan, he never made a single payment on it. We kept calling and he finally told us "do what you need to do, I'm not gonna pay it." We ended up suing him and sent a wage order to the employer. The payroll lady was nice enough to call us, she said "Just so you know, it's gonna be about 16 years before you get anything. He's got $600/month in child support coming out already, and his kid just turned two."

I do the same, Steelers - I don't know about SOL's and you're right, they're terribly confusing, so I don't answer those questions, because I know darn well I'd be wrong. SOL is touchy, what with all the stuff you read about any payment restarting the SOL, etc.
