and as soon as I used it,it was reported
to the fraud department. I have given them
2 notarized letters stating that I am the
person on the account, my passport, social
security card, a poland spring bill with
my name on it. That is not enough to prove
my identity.They asked for a utility bill
in my name (none are in my name, they told me to switch them into my name),w2 and or a pay
stub. None of which I am going to beable to
find before April 3. Why is what I provied
not enough ? As of now I will not beable to
get them what they want before they close
the account on April 3rd. So I will have a
card I nevered used, plus it will show that
they closed it because they could not
verify who I am and where I live.
P.S. they don't take bank statements as
proof of address but they will take a
notarized letter from by bank confirming
my identity.

Sorry, the frist time I made an attempt to use it it was denied. I am unable to use it now, because they think it is fraud. I just want this resolved. I would gladly cancel the card . It is not worth it. Any help would be appreciated. Istheir anyone I can contact. The fraud department and supervisors are rude and do not offer any help.Bad way to start of with a new customer who ha not spent a dime.

It is not that I do not want to give them what they want,I do not have the utilities that they want in my name. The other info they requested I do not know where to look for them. I have given them so much info, I even offered my school loan statements (Direct Loan) with my address and they still would not accept it. I just want to go back to school and finish, I was going to use the card to pay my school bill and then pay it off during the semester.

They are a good creditor but get nervous very easily.Discover is worse than them on the nerves issue. On the guest issue,you need to sign in with your email and password.

I spoke to a woman, (won't mention her name but she was rude as well), asked for an underwriter,she replied that she did not know what that was,then I once again had the conversation that leads to no where.I asked again for an underwriter (all of a sudden she knows what they are) and she says that she can not give me the number and it does not matter because all things have to be cleared by the fraud department. It seems like a very small office over there because I keep on getting the same people for 2 days now. It seems odd since they have so many customers. Now they are saying the notary that I got from my bank they do not recognize it. On the paper I faxed it clearly has the bank, the address, the phone number and the person who notarized the paper with my I.D. and signature.

You are gonna want to do a web search on Amex to see if you can speak to someone over their head. Look for retention/loss migration dept. Continue going upwards towars the corporate office level. They seem to have your account classed as a fraudulent account and you need to find out why. This is not a financial review as I thought.A normal financial review is handled thru a underwriter.

I have not found anyone who can help. Is there a number that I can call so I can actually talk to someone who has the authority to make changes and will not act like I am doing something wrong. I don't even owe them money. They have three out of the four things that they requested. I am starting to feel a little uncomfortable giving so much information to people I do not have a history with. Not to mention whenever I send a fax it appears that they are not reading it properly and as a result they are rejecting it.

cajun, thanks for your help. I have talked to several people and when I spoke a supervisor in the fraud department she said my account was under review and it was not fraud. So I really do not know where to go from here. I did a search, could not find anything, usually you can't find info like that unless you know someone. The people at the top do not want to be found and they do everything in their power so you can't find them. It seems like I would have to spend days searching the net for that info, and just maybe I would get lucky. I searched this site, because I am usually able to find numbers for that here, I guess Amex numbers are not here. I am thinking of contacting the New York State Banking Department, but I am not sure if it is worth it, since I never really did any business with them. You know what's funny they are now saying I gave them a work phone number and I know I didn't. I would never give anyone a work number. I am not going to entertain any potential harrassment.
