I got a call from a lady named Kari Marcinkoweicz threating me at home and at my job that I was going to jail for internet fraud for a couple of payday loans that I have.. I dont have a problem paying back the loan but her terms were just unreasonable.. she wanted me to wire the money ($1600) in 24 hours or else.. these were 3 $200 loans.. Crazy .. She has called my job and told them that she was a investigator and that there were going to subpoena the company for their harddrive info on me sending email from there for a loan. Now I dont know if I have a job or not as I write this.. This is sick..
I dont know what else to do.. Can I go to jail behind this.. Why is this lady calling my job when I asked her not to.. Please can someone help me!! I need help and guidance on this conduct by this company ..

Hi JSmooth, I have been where you are, received calls from these folks at home and at work....they are dirty debt collectors, and are currently under suspension for 90 days by the ACA, who governs the operation of collection agencies. They are NOT law enforcement officials and can NOT have you arrested or confiscate your hard drive. Please read other threads for much more about this horrible company....in the meantime, take a deep breath and stay calm, you have the power not them! Take care, Melissa

If they keep calling you. Sue them for violating the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

Just remember that there is no debtors prison. Unless you dont pay your taxes. ;-)

Also make sure that you record all the telephonic conversations held between you and the Ellis rep. so that you have sufficient proof of this torture.

You can browse this forum and gather one sample letter of the cease and desist letter posted by the Moderator of this site.
