Becoming Debt Free

Hello my name is alicia hughes, I am in desperate need to become debt free. I am now 22 and when I was younger 16-20 my mother said she was going to help me manage my bills. I was working full time jobs sometimes even 3 at the time to pay my debt off. My mom said to go ahead and give her the cash and that she will send them off for me, she was showing me receipts as to where it was going but they were ALL fony. I am now 22 and I wanting to live my life free of stress. I know people have worse senarios but for me this is the worst ever. Please help me!!!!

If you gave your phone number at signup, a credit counselor will call you soon. They'll go over your financial situation and help you explore your options. You don't have to sign up with company that contacts you, but whoever you choose, make sure you check them out thoroughly. The BBB, this website, your state attorney general, etc...can all help you determine if the company is reputable-do all you can to make sure you don't get ripped off.

Get all the payment receipts and show it to your creditors. They must update your file with all the payments that you have done so far. You should be able to fix this because you have proof.

Welcome to the Community :D If all the receipts she showed you were phony, you won't get any where with the creditors. If you were 16, find out the laws of your state on contracts on your states attorney general website. I'm not sure if you were legally liable to take out these debts. If you find out you were, you can contact the creditors yourself, and try explaining the situation, and see if they will work with you. If they won't, there is always debt consolidation, where you combine all your debts into one payment. If you have any questions, please ask, and good luck!!..KAren
