I needed another payday loan but didn't get approved with my ssn, so I applied again and used a different ssn, only one number off my real one. could I get prosecuted or put in prison for this? I can't pay it off.

Well, I would think that using a SS# that isn't yours might get you in some trouble. The SS# you used probably belonged to someone else and they probably wouldn't appreciate someone using that number for loans or anything like that. I hate to say this, but you have reason to be scared especially if you get caught. I think charges could be filed. I may be wrong, but I do believe what you did is a crime.

The more I sat here and pondered this the more I got a bit angry and go to thinking...it could be my ss# or my kids' SS#! I was trying to word things a little nicely, but I will say that if it turns out it is their, I will be after someone.

So lets see, now that I have had more coffee and more away and thinking better (was way early when I posted), yes you are in trouble and definily go to jail and possibly be sued by the person's who ss number you used.

If I were you, when that money hit my account, I would have the transaction reversed right away.

I'd also call the company and tell them that after looking at the paperwork you see that your ss# is wrong. Ask them to correct it then. That is the only way I can see out of this that doesn't include possible charges. If you tell them that it's wrong early enough so that no damage is done to the person who's ss# you stole, then you may not get into a ton of trouble.

I just called the lady and said I must have mistyped. She wanted me to fax in my original ssn card in order to make the change, and then they would change it. I wasn't thinking about someone else's because I know they don't report it to the credit report, plus it is my full name, license and birthdate. Like I said, I just wasn't thinking straight until it occurred to me it would be fraud. She is changing it in the account so I feel better now. I am going to do everything in my power to pay it off quickly and get this resolved. Like I said, it is my ssn with only the last number off. I think they understand I could have mistyped.

Whether or not they report it still did not make it right.

I really think you would be wise to stay away from payday loans. You are doing nothing but getting yourself into a cycle of taking one right after the other and if you keep this up, it is going to be harder and harder to get out of it. You really should have looked at your denial as a sign that you needed to quit with the pdls.
