I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this question, but I just talked to my sister and she has an odd situation going on.

Her roomate's sister just got a call from Ford Motor Credit regarding my sister's roomate. They were looking for him and asked his sister if she was related to him and how they could reach him. She took down the phone number and called my sister's roomate.

He's never had a car loan, or even a credit card. He just checked his credit report the other week and there's nothing on it. A few years ago he "rented" a car from a friend of his. The car was in her name, but he paid her money each month to use it. This person got diagnosed with some sort of advanced cancer and my sister's roomate lost track of her. But he didn't keep the car, he gave it back.

When ford called his sister they mentioned the car. When my sister's roomate called them back, they couldn't find anything in their system about him.

Since the car isn't his, nothing has ever been in his name, why would ford motor credit possibly be calling people looking for him? I can't think of anything that it could be . . . . .

She says the number they gave his sister to call them back at is the same number listed on Ford Motor credits website. I'm wondering if since he gave them his name when he called them back that the info is under the lady that owned the car, but has died's name.

But I still can't figure out why ford would contact him. If he wasn't named on the loan, how would ford even know who he was?
