I am applying to graduate school and must finance this with the Grad Plus loan. My credit is bad due to credit cards that I neglected while in college.

I have settled most of the accounts on my credit, but want to make sure that I have dealt with ALL of them. I want to do this so I can make sure I qualify for the GRAD PLUS loan for school.

One of the requirements of this is that you must not be 90 days past due on any account.

Who can counsel me on my credit report, and show me what needs to be done to make sure I qualify for this Grad Plus loan?

Credit reports are so hard to read sometimes... :x

Your bank won't be able to help you read the report. Since they are not tax advisors, they are not allowed to try and discuss your credit report with you. All we can do is give you your FICO. Did you already pull a copy of all three bureaus? You need to go onto www.annualcreditreport.com. Everyone is entitled to a free copy of their credit report (all three bureaus) once a year. It's presented in a pretty user friendly format. You don't get your FICO that way, but at least you can see if you have any 30/60/90 day lates reported. After that, if you need more help reading it, you can always contact a tax advisor.

i have already gotten a 3 bureau credit report.

I thought that I had taken care of all except two accounts, but it looks as if there possibly could be more that are past due..

I just want someone to verify which ones I actually need to pay..

I will try calling the ones that I think might be owed. But I just want a professional to look over my credit report to make sure I meet the requirements for getting the GRAD PLUS loan for school.

Which professional would I need to contact to do this for me? Tax lawyer?, CPA? Something else?

Can you trust someone in your family or friends who can analyze your credit report better?

You should see the current standing of all the accounts listed in the report. It should mention how long you were late on the accounts. If you see anything disputed, write a letter to the credit bureau and get it fixed. They will verify it with the creditors and update the records.

There are credit repair companies who can help in fixing your credit, by charging a fee. Be careful when you shop for the company. Check them with your state AG and the local BBB.
