Bad news from Ohio AG

That is wierd because I just got a letter from them regarding my complaints and it said nothing of the such....It told me that it would take up to 90 days for them to investigate my complaint.....

I got the same letter this morning about my UCL complaint but she said they forwarded it to her. Guess I am stuck with these places.

No you aren't...You still need to file complaints with the FTC...i got that letter friday and they haven't called me to tell me that they do not deal with internet companies I also find it odd that they helped you with one and are now telling you that they cannot help you with the other

It doesn't make any sense to me. I KNOW they called One Step Cash. One Step Cash wouldn't have amicably closed my account like they did without intervention from a third party.

Maybe your complaint got forwarderd to the wrong department???

I don't know. The way she stated it the AG's office forwarded it to the dept. of commerce because the AG's office can't help me.

I think that's bull . . . . There are many Ohio users here, and I'm sure they will post their experiences with filing complaints.

Maybe you just got someone on a bad day, and they just didn't feel like helping.

I think it is bull too!!! I went around and around with this lady and she just kept giving me the same answer. I am so mad right now. I know the AG's office has been helping with complaints and getting results.

Did you call her? This may be a long shot, but I know that several other users here recieved calls from ipdl's after they filed complaints and the ipdl's pretended to be from their state's banking or ag office.

Yeah, I called her back, and I also looked up the number. Sure enough, it was a number for the Ohio Dept. of Treasury. I still just don't believe that what she told me is right. How I wish it was an impersonator....no such luck.

SASS-I really hope you get this...That type of complaint does not go to the OH Dept of Treasury it should go to the OH Division of Financial Instituiont 77 South High St 21st Fl Columbus Oh 43215-was also told that if you go to paydayloan.org and click on OH it gives you a link to their own complaint form that you can print and mail to them all your own..hope this helps!

So we don't file with the AG anymore or what? Or is the AG doing the forwarding? UGH I am confused and I have a headache. Thanks Leah for the info.

The AG is supposed to forward it on to them on our behalf..but they apparently sent your complaint to the wrong person so they told me how to go about doing it yourself

You do not want the Oh. Dept. Of Treasury. They have nothing to do with this. The AG's office will investigate your complaint, they will also forward it to the Dept. of Financial Institutions. They have been compiling a file regarding these ipdl complaints they are getting. The AG's office DOES investigate. They were of great help to me in settling my ipdls. Again, you are in contact with the wrong government agency, Dept. Of Treasury has nothing to do with ipdls, so they were right in the sense they can not help you. You can also go to the AG's site and get the link to the Dept. of Financial Institutions, or call them, they will mail you a complaint form.

I didn't think I wanted the Dept. of Treasury! I got an email this morning from the AG saying they were investigating my complaint, then I got this call out of the blue this afternoon from the Dept. of Treasury. I just now emailed the person that emailed me this morning and asked nicely if she could please forward my complaint to the right dept, or if I had to file a new one. I guess the AG's office just forwarded it to the wrong place. By the way, I have filed ALL of my complaints with the AG. I never filed anything with the Dept. of Treasury. They contacted me and said they got my complaint from the AG. I guess it was just a case of the AG's office sending my complaint to the wrong office.

Steelers is right on this one. I had this happen before. It sounds like it just got forwarded to the wrong department. I always filed a separate complaint with the Ohio DIF as well as the AG. I always thought it was good to cover my basis. I'm glad that you are feeling better :-)

It's a little confusing, but in some states, it's the state's AG that handles complaints, in others, it's a governing body that covers banks and lenders, and in still others, it's another governing body. It takes some time and investigation to find out what your particular state does. Paydayloaninfo.org is a great site with the proper authorities to contact listed.

Well now we know more about how Ohio works! I tell you guys, that lady that called me really was nice, but when she told me the AG's office couldn't help, my world just took a turn for the worse!!!!! I'm so relieved!

OH just passed a predatory lending law which took effect Jan. 1st. You need to read it carefully, it looks like upon first glance it deals with mortgages only, but not so, includes these types of predatory lenders as well. It gives the AG's office the authority to go after and prosecute those who break that law.
