Many people are thinking of leaving the US as a result of job and home loss and moving to Mexico. From the responses on this site I am under the impression U.S. credit card debt would be hard to collect in Mexico? If you stay out of the country for 7 years the writeoffs fall off your credit report? Thanks

I am wondering if the relocation costs would be more or less than the debt owed? I think your are right about the SOL stopping, pausing or whatever, don't think this is a good idea. Guess it depends on how much debt you owe, LOL. I could not afford to move to Mexico myself, I will stick around and deal with them here.

Eventually, I believe, it will all catch up to you. You cannot continuosly run from what you owe because eventually you will be caught and still have to pay or maybe you might actually be convicted of fraud if proved that you actually left to get out of paying and maybe jail time??? I might be wrong, but to me, that is commiting fraud. Also, and I have to ask, why would you want to come on here and any place and even say anything like that for? The people here on this board are trying to pay their debt without running from it. Sure, might be a struggle, but everytime one gets paid, that is one less we have to deal with and yes, might take time and we all might have to put up with a little stuff, for I know for me, paying what I owe will make me feel a lot better than running from it. I hated how I felt filing bankruptcy because I was not able to pay anything, but at the time, that was the best thing for me to do and even today, I feel bad for having to do it, but I did try to pay things before it got to that point, but I never ran away.

Ok, I am going to quit "preaching" now. Having a bad day anyway, so no since taking it out here.

Just a final not, if I were you, I would rethink things and think of the consequences if you get caught.

Just what kind of "great job" might you get in Mexico? Might as well move to Brazil, Honduras or any of a hundred 3rd world countries with GNP lower that the city of New York.

And yeah - I am sure some real nice default judgement will go against you while you are gone. Good luck getting back into the country and not being escorted to a 5x8 concrete room.
