Welcome to the Community :D Have you tried working something out with the original creditors? I paid on medical bills for years, but finally got them paid off. Since you have registered, someone will contact you and discuss options you may have, including debt consolidation. If you have any questions, please ask..Karen

Aaron,
Like bossy said they are generally easy to work with and let you make smaller payments.
In Pennsylvania we have programs that will help pay medical bills, we have I-care and Hilburton, what state are you from? Have you done any research to see if there are companies out there that will help you pay medical debt. I know it is on a needs based basis. If you need help doing this, maybe I can help you get in the right direction, like getting the Pa information via the web and then maybe there is a connection to your state somehow. Worth a shot. Please post your state and I will see what I can find out for you.
thanks

Aaron, in the state of OH you can find out who the original debt is from and then send them a letter of hardship explaining your circumstances and most of the time your medical bills will be reduced...There are also several places that will assist you with said medical expenses if you did not have insurance at the time...

Hey Aaron!
A lot of times, hospitals have programs to help people who get stuck with these huge bills. You might want to call their business office and ask. It also depends on the hospital system and whether it's for or non-profit. If your hospital is non-profit, you might have a better chance. Good luck!

For the financial hardship letters-you need to put in their what you make as well as your bills...send them to the doctors and hospitals and they will review them and they usually cut them down and even sometimes write them off...I had several bills from a few years ago when I had no insurance and sent these letters and of the 6 bills I had out 4 were written off and 2 were cut down so much that they were easy to pay off...Also some of the hospitals have a program that helps people out like you and I and these programs will actually help you pay the debt....
