I have a debt that was with Household Bank, which was sold to Atlantic Credit & Finance. We had a deal worked with Household to pay it off with income $ in March, but they sold it before we got the money. Now, we've been dealing with John P. Frye who is now wanting full amount of debt, whereas Household cut us a deal that would've paid it off. We are to start paying John P Frye tomorrow, but I'm not feeling very good about this law firm. Feel like I might be getting ripped off. Anyone know anything about them. Thanks in advance.

I have also dealt with these guys. I had three debts, settled one, now I have two. These guys are the most unprofessional, rude, fake group of collectors I have ever heard. I told them what was up two times over the phone and I refuse to waste anymore of my time trying to resolve my debt in a completely unrealistic way. I would not give a dime of my money to this particular company, they would probably embesle it!

I have never participated in one of these forums so I hope I'm doing this correctly.

I am Frye's latest victim. Two years later he has changed his tactics but it all boils down to the same thing. Received call from one Amy Encarmacion, threatening me with a law suite for 5K+. She caught me at a bad time due to a death in the family so I was already an emotional mess when she called and vunerable to her onslaught. She said she was on my side and was willing to work with me. However, she has been telling me one thing and my husband another, pitting us against each other. We tried to clip it in the bud by doing a conference call via cell phone but that didn't last.

As I said, I am new to this and don't know all the accronyms. Who is CACV and what is fdcpa? A federal law?

I can't find anything about the law suite against Frye, is it still going on? If not, what happened.

I'm trying to get a handle on this and feel like my hands are full of oiled snakes.

LOng story but this is what your dealing with. My husband went to boot camp and AIT July of 2005. I did not have a power of attorney so they would not talk to me(household credit). I told them i did not need to talk just wanted to make payments. So they very nicely made an arrangment to take out of our account $150.00 per month. We get to our first duty station and open the bill. It was $2000.00 more than when he went in. The date THEY set up was late so every month I was charged a late fee, over the limit fee, and payment by phone fee. So I get a call from Frye office that says I do not understand why your over here you have not even missed a payment. I wanted the account closed and even tho they saw what Household did and admitted it they said there is nothing they can do and I am doing it...My husband is a soldier and if he falls behind they can call his commander, that was said several times. So to all of you, Good luck.
Denise

Law office of john p frye is a joke!!! i used to work there, and you wouldnt believe the things they would say to debtors- reason for me resigning! This company will make deals with the debtors but as said before they do not have to, they can ask for in full at once if they want! This company has been sued for harassment and other things as well, and has been going on like this for years!!!!

Ah very interesting! - Years of dealing with them after I paid down debt and was paying final agreed amount but then they decided not to allow that so now they continue harrassing and putting out claims for the original amount.
Looks like I am in good company with many decent people from all over dealing with real crooks - and this is first time I read that I am not alone!

You must work for them. These are the same things they say after they tell you they don't want to cause any more stress on you.

Go to jobs.roanoke.com and click on wording part time, this company you are talking about is a call center. I just happened to run up on your website trying to get more info on John P. Frye Co. I am looking for part time work. No way in hell would i ever work for a company that harassas people. Shame on them. I would be cautious would i spoke to at any call center, usually the people hired are shady, they may get your personal info. and steal your identity. They are already working with people that have credit issues, what a good job to be in to add to someones missery!

i worked for jpf in 2008 and what a scam. they will not sue you just send a cease and disist letter from a form letter on the internet. ask for detailed list of charges and your account will go back to atlantic credit and finance and it will sit there for years until statue runs out.

If everyone on this sites morals were as good as you think you are then you wouldn't owe the debt in the first place. Live within your means. I never took my own advice therefore I also have an account with JPF. The reason they keep calling is because you never answer your phone because you know its a bill collector from somewhere. I answered my phone and set up a payment plan with them. I never got a paid in full letter but it is now showing satisfied on my credit report. Quit hiding from the collectors of the debt you ran up. Be a grown up and pay your bills. I learned the hard way but it can be done. Don't spend more than you make. Basic economics.
