How to become a "fan" of someones page

I'm just curious how this works...becoming a fan to someones page. I noticed I have a few and I didn't know how? Anyone know how that works?

Go to their page and click on the star above their head in their pic or avatar. You should get a mesage saying you were added.

When you quick message, you will see a star above the persons' name. Click on it and you become a fan.
