house is 4 months behind car is 2 months behind. utilities are current.I owe on property taxes too. My wife blew our tax return money on a selfish 2 week trip to Europe and cheated on me with a man she met on the internet!!! She kept the finances and delibertly sabatoged my credit. I just got hired to a very promising company and I seek to stabilize myself without following heer chapter 13 advice if possible.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that.
If you gave your number at sign up, then a credit counselor will be calling soon. They'll help you explore your options, so you can make the best decision. You aren't obligated to use the company that calls you, but if you choose any company to help you, do your research and make sure they're reputable. The BBB, FTC, your AG, this site, etc...are all great resources to help make sure you don't get ripped off.
If you are dealing with payday loans, debt collectors, trying to repair your credit, if you post your problems, we might be of help. There is a lot of experience and knowledge to be found in this board.

Well...geez, you have had a run of crappy luck lately. However, consider yourself really fortunate that you have gotten a good job. I would say that the first order of business for you would be to get caught up on your house payments and car payments. You need a place to live and a car to get you to work. Have you spoken to these creditors about your situation? Perhaps you could set up some type of arrangements to catch up on back payments. Yes, it will be difficult for awhile, but worth it in the end. Have you frozen or closed you and your wife's bank account/credit cards, if possible?
A debt counselor will be calling you and you can further discuss the particulars of your finances then. In the meantime, check out all the different sections of this forum and ask any questions.

I don't know what to say here that makes you feel better. Your personal life has really been in turmoil. I appreciate your guts in taking care of your financial problems. It will be a long way but you will definitely get through. Do you have any idea how much you owe in total? You should start calling your creditors and put the payment proposals. They will offer you a suitable repayment plan.

Oh wow...I am so sorry to hear this. Sometimes it seems like when it rains it pours. Do talk to the counselors and see what they have to say. It will be a bit of a stuggle to start with, trust me I know, but hang in there and try to keep your faith up. The big thing is keeping a roof over your head and transportation and your basic living expenses. Close out all your credit card accounts, if you have any and try to make arrangments with them. There are people here that are better able to direct you in right direction, but know that you have came to a good place to find help, advice, support and encouragment. Feel free to ask questions if you don't understand something, even if you think it might be a stupid question, because there are not any stupid questions. Many people here have been where they have been/are behind on mortgages, etc. Oh, do check with the company that your car loan is through and see if they can do a deferment of some type for at least a month, to where a current payment will go at the end of the loan. That might not be much, but it would be a start. Explain to them what happened and they might be able to help you.

The one thing that you CAN count on is that the people here will be there for you throughout this rough time in your life. You have an excellent support system here.
