Jack, welcome to the forums!! What I would do in your situation is to call the collection agent... tell them what you can afford to pay, and pay it.
All these agencies want is a settlement on the debt. Just make an effort to work with them, if they don't...there's nothing that youcan really do about it, is there? If you make an attempt to work with them, and they don't, its their choice.
A phone call goes a long way!

I'm working on that now. I got a call from them earlier (I think) but they didn't really divulge any information in the voice mail they left me. I worked with AM-EX on the problem but I just couldn't do it fast enough and they turned it over to creditors. I'm young (24) and I'm doing great all things considered (my parent's helped groom my credit growing up) I now am getting paid much more but it's still not enough and I doubt there will be anything left at the end of the month to give them.

Don't take it out at the end of the month. A few accounts in collections aren't going to kill your credit...it may bring your FICO score down a few points, but they won't blow you out of the water.
The collection agencies just want to get the debt paid. If your credit is that important to you, then you need to do this in order to get your credit back on track.
