I have significant credit card debt at least $60,000... I have been struggling to make the monthly minimum payments. Someone informed me that debt consolidation could be a big savings. I have also been advised that there may be loop holes in the credit card laws that may allow me to eliminate that debt altogether. I am dubious afeter speakign to them when the wanted a large up front fee. I need some real trustworthy advice as to what to do and to whom to work with. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...

It looks like debt settlement will be a suitable option and bring down the total balance. Consolidation will take long time to erase the dues. Since you are already having a tough time to pay the minimum amount, paying the principal looks tough in your case.

Are you currently behind in the payments? A good settlement company will be able to eliminate your total debts by 40% to 60%. Try with different companies and know what they can offer. The fees might vary from one company to another. Research the company with your state AG and the BBB before signing the contract.
