Does the gas company offer a 1/6 payment plan? You agree to pay 1/6 of the past due amount along with the current amount. That is one option, another is going to your welfare dept. or other community service agencies to see if you qualify for assistance with the bill. Also, some states do not allow shut off of services up until April 15th after the winter season. Doesn't sound like that is allowed where you are from. Contact the company and work out arrangements to get service restored.

You should take Steelers advice...most cities have some time of organization to help you out with your gas bill...Also try calling the gas company and making arrangments...They may tell you no at first but if you are persistant enough they will come up with a way to help you out(I went through the same thing with out Gas and Electric co here...they didnt want to help me at first but I just kept pressing the issue and eventually they worked something out with me)

Sometimes a church will help you out. Or if you have a salvation army in your area, sometimes they help also. But I would start at the county level first then try your local church and salvation army.
I just made payment arrangements with my gas/electric company but I needed a good faith down payment and now have to make payments every other week. Doesn't hurt to try.
Good luck I wish you the best.
