My name is Selia I am 24 years old. I ahve made some bad decesions when It comes to credit in my life. I am trying to turn this around. I have some old credit card accounts and also my student loans are behind. Thought the years I have paid smal debts off and now their are the big things left. I want to be finaically stable and debt free before I am 30 years old.

Calls your creditors and explain your intentions to get debt free. If you can't manage to pay all the debts together, keep the student loans on hold for sometime. You can apply for forbearance from the lender.

credit card debts catch up the highest interest rates and fees. You need to have some arrangements done so that you can pay off bills and get debt free. If you need a counselor to negotiate with your creditors, wait for someone referred by this website. Get all the latest statements and the account details for knowing the latest standing of the debts.

I am working to become debt-free also. I am doing it completely on my own. I set up an Excel spreadsheet with a list of all my debts and regular bills. I budgeted each of my bills and groceries. Then I determined how much I could put toward paying off debt (while still putting a little in savings each month--very important!). Some debts (especially medical ones) are only receiving $5 a month right now. I am paying off old credit card debt first since it carries an interest rate. As I pay those off, I'll use that money to work on paying off the other stuff. As long as my paycheck holds steady, I'll be done paying off my debt in about another 15 months. And I didn't have to pay anyone to help me! You CAN do it; it just takes some time to sit down and take a hard, honest look at ALL your debt, then make a plan and stick to it. I can't wait for the day I pay off that last creditor!
