I am on vacation this week and i just got back and saw a message from netcash usa that they are going to release my loan..But while I was on vacation my office manager called me and told me that they are going to have to let me go..So now I don't have a job..I am going to have to research florida laws concerning firing an employee..I worked there 5 years and thats all I got a call on the phone with no warning and a total ruin of my vacation..its like it never stops..I just started standing up to these pdls and now this..

nasdam,

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your job. Did your office manager give you any reason for letting you go? I find it odd that they did it over the phone. Companies have to be so careful these days. I know when I got laid off in January that my immediate boss did not handle the situation well at all. He was going around telling all of my co-workers that I quit. He even tried to state this to the HR department when they knew beforehand that I would be laid off due to company restructure. I handled every thing through my HR department and with my boss's boss. I even filed a complaint against my immediate boss because everything was so botched up. I'll keep you in my prayers :-) Good luck to you!

the reason was that patients were complsining about me.One patient and I had a blowout after she told me she was going to sue me..A long story..But I was never warned or told in the past about anyone complaining and like I said they said patients plural complained.

I am so sorry to hear about your job! Maybe you can try to get some unemployment. May not be much, but at least it would be something until you found another job.

I use to work for a real estate agent and I had to go in for some laproscory surgery. I was out one full week and then tried to work at least 1/2 days the next week (even though I had not been released from the doctor yet). My employer use to get mad because I could not stay all day and I tried to explain to him that I was still hurting and was trying to work in the mornings before things got bad. Anyway, I left to go home that Friday and as I was getting ready to leave, he informed me not to come back until he called me. That Friday afternoon I got a call from the girl that I worked with telling me he was having her do a letter for him that was letting me go. Now I had not been released officially from the drs yet, but he worded the letter to make it seem like this was coming for a long time and then tried to fight my unemployment and even had the nerve to lie and change his story like 3 times...could not keep straight what he wrote on the paper he sent back disputing the unemployment, and then changed his story twice while we were having our hearing. Well he didn't win and I was still able to draw.

But the unemployment thing might be something you could do for a while, and do have them take taxes out because it will come back to bit ya if you don't. Lesson learned here!

Hi there, unfortunetly employers really don't need "a reason" to fire anyone. Fortunetly, there's a small light at the end of the tunnel, unemployment insurance. When filing, tell them your story and you may qualify for benefits. Your word against theirs...unless, in the past, you were written up for the action that ultimately got you fired. Good luck.

It had nothing to do with apdl..I had a bloewout witha patient and they said patients were complaining. This happened last thursday and I was called Monday on vacation and told I was being fired..After 5 years I would have thought that they would have at least given me a warning..Not justy take aweekend to decide..So now I am really thinking it was more than complaints..I feel thay wanted to have a "reason"..i really feel like I was being treated unfairly in the past year..I got less raise than everyone and was not told why..my performance never fell.I was never absent..always reliable..My boss actually told me over the phone that he would give me arecommendation letter he just didn't think I was suitable for his company..Dawnmarie I was never warned verbally, formally or otherwise..I really think he didn't like the fact that I went to him about getting less raise than everyoneelse..After being parttime for a while because of school I went back to full time and my healthinsurance was never reinstated..everyone had health insurance except me

Nas - you should file for unemployment, and go through the motions with it. They may not even contest your request for unemployment. Generally speaking, the only way they can deny your unemployment is for "willful disobedience", and those sorts of things need to be documented (even if a verbal warning is given) After 3 "warnings" then you can be terminated, and won't get your unemployment.

Is Florida an "at will" state? If so, they don't need a reason to fire you, and you don't need a reason to quit.

I know what is like to lose your job (two of them), lose your boyfriend and lose your mind all in one month. It will get better and you will find another job soon. Just keep looking until now. Easier said than done huh?

I don't know what the right words to tell you but I do remember when it happened to me. Fate can be so cruel. And then I had bills on top of that. But prayer and a good support system got me through.

Like I said, easier said than done, but believe me, it does get better.

Hang in there and try to stay out of the payday loan trap while you are unemployed. Something better will come along. The health care field is a good one to be in as far as opportunity. I assume you are in health care, because you used the term patients. Keep your chin up, it will all work out. We are all here for you.

Yes, do keep your chin up. I was devastated when I got laid off from my job. Then, after a little time, I looked at it as a blessing. I was able to get unemployment and it wasn't a bad amount. I broken even because I wasn't commuting back and forth to work. You will be surprised how your expenses go down. I know mine did and I start a better job on Monday :-) It's close to home, the hours are good, and it's better money!!
