WoooHooo my daughter made a decision
Date: Wed, 04/11/2007 - 21:02
I thought I would let you all know what my daughter has decided about joining the service.
Wait let me back up a couple of days first, On Monday we were supposed to have a meeting with one of the recruters at 2:00. (My hubby was supposed to work till 2:30 so he got done early) Well we were here waiting and waiting. finally it was 2:30 and I had my daughter call him. He told her he was on his way and almost here. Ok, so we waited and waited again. Then at 3:00 my hubby called him and told him he didn't care if he was pullin in the driveway right now but to turn around and go back lol. I mean the guy NEVER called to let us know he was runnin late. Hubby could have gotten overtime that day, but he left for this guy. Ohhhh he was very mad.
Anyway that made her see the light (along with talking to some of the guys just coming home from the war) Soooooo...her decision is to not join the service and to get a job and pay for her schooling herself. She goes in tomorrow for a drug test for a job and if she passes (she better or I will kill her lol) she gets the job.
I am so proud of her. I did not tell her not to join. She did the research and I set up the meetings with the guys just coming home. But she told me that she didn't think that would be in her best interest. I think I would have been proud of her with either choice. I told her that if she ever still wanted to join she still has the chance at any time. Not just because she's 17.
So that's the news for today lol. Now it's time for me to try and not reply to any more posts tonight (meds. kickin in lol)

Yes it is.Not that joining the service would have been a bad decision, don't get me wrong but I guess I am just an overprotective parent. I think I would have gone nuts if she would have had to go overseas.

puddlejmpr ~ I know that feeling about going overseas for my son is planning on going into the Air Force, but I know I have to let him go his own way. It is tough being a parent!!! Even for one coming from a totally military background. I wish your daughter much success!
