A few moths ago I got a call from a CA regarding a Capital One account. Sent them VOD and never heard from them. Today in the mail, from Capital One, I got something I signed back in June 1998 asking them to close the account. I signed the letter and mailed it back with a check mark by the reason I was closing the acount back them. What I don't understand is WHY they are sending this to me now - Do they condiser this to be some kind of validation?

Well I can't really answer that..but, I can tell you that we have very few credit cards...but, unfortunately Capitol was 1 of them! I think they are crooks myself...I didn't think we would ever get away from them. And then of course you know they penalize your credit report if you actually close an account with them. That makes absolutely no sense to me...you pay off your debt and cancel the card so you don't have to keep paying the yearly fee....and that lowers your credit rating for at least 2 yrs....go figure!!! I am sure someone here can be able to answer your question. Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!
