Since I am who I am and I say what I think, and I think I am going to say what I think. Here it goes, and anybody who knows me, will know, I always say what I think without holding back. Here goes......

I have been getting very frustrated as of late reading some, well MANY posts. It seems the quality of posts are going downhill. And when threads are started, it appears that the topic gets WAY off topic, and instead turns into private conversations, completely off topic. This is not good. When somebody comes here, they are looking at the title of the thread and when a thread becomes lengthy because others are holding conversations unrelated to the topic, the person looking for advice/answers becomes confused.

Driving me nuts! If others want to converse why not go to the chat room. I know that there are plenty of others WHO DO agree with me.

Post your response. I don't really care, this is my tension reliever.

Well I'll certainly be big enough to admit that I have been guilty. I just went and deleted 2 posts from this morning where I was trying to explain something. I will be very careful about what I post from now on. However, I do also know that the moral support that I have recieved in the last few days has helped just as much if not more than the technical. So there I know I am knew here but that's how I feel.

I have to agree with Steelers and Cajun. If it weren't for Steelers and a few others at the time, I don't know where I'd be. She was able to give me moral support without going off track of what I needed to get out of debt. You can give moral support without devoting a whole thread to it. I believe most of us give moral support without getting off track. Cajun, I also think you have given much to the forum that people can really benefit from.

Thank you steelers for posting your post, I totally agree, you will be reading along on a post and then it goes in to 2 or 3 pages of off the topic conversation, it is very frustrating, sometimes I forget what the post was about trying to get back to where the real post starts again. You being a senior moderator, maybe folks will listen, this post is much appreciated by this information seeking debt owner, thank you very much.

wfhn2007, you hardly know about this place. If you had been watching this site for a long time, you would have known the real purpose. I agree with cajun, this guy had the nerve to register just to bash people on his very first post.

This is probably the only place you get any respect or people to hear what you have to say

We don't remember you ever said anything here. This is your first post buddy and let me ask, are you preaching?

Oh I get it, big bad Moderator wants to dictate what people can talk about! Just who in the hell do you think you are??? Actually, you're right, I fully agree.

If there is a post titled "how do I stop a wage assignment" then I would expect to click on that post and read about a person who got waged and needs advice on how to stop it. Possible replies would include a) revoking it; b) filing an affidavit of defense; c) contacting the payroll department with your objection ... among others. An answer to the original question should not be in the form of another irrelevant question (ie "I have 5 PDLS, how do I get rid of them"), or other small talk that doesn't pertain to the subject.

On occasion (like the example above of someone asking a totally different question within a thread), I have used the Mods' power to split a thread up, and I move that post to it's own thread.

Quote:

I feel there is no harm if the personal talk is related with the topic, just to make the point clear or related to the subject.

Certainly, no harm done if that is the case. Maybe you're sharing an experience you had, or things you've done in a similar situation. Or maybe you disagree with a reply that another member/guest made, and you're posting your own take on the matter. There is no "right" answer to any question here, so we will have varying responses, and sometimes we do get into heated debates... that's a good thing, as long as the debate pertains to the subject matter. If the debate gets off topic, start a new thread on that topic.

Think about key words, when people want to use a search to find specific posts/information. If we're having a debate about CA leaving voicemails, inside of a thread labeled "Wage Garnishments", then it is very confusing when the search results come back. A user wouldn't expect to have to click on Garnishments to read information about harassing voicemails....

Like Fedup said, I have seen many posts where it deviates into 2-3 pages of "what are your plans for the weekend...", or members just talking between themselves inside a post, and it just gets completely away from the subject. (Again, 3 years from now when someone searches for a topic, and this post comes up in the results, will the reader care what we were doing on the weekend?)

If I was the original poster of the thread asking for help/advice, and I came back the next day and seen people talking about what they had for dinner the night before, I would feel like my question was being ignored and that nobody really cared about my situation.

Actually I have posted many times on this forum, all over the board. I have had many many screenames and ID's. I post as guest sometimes, I post as Doug Danger sometimes, I post as some of you and most never see that it really isn't you. I have been around a long time and will continue to be. So the moderators can continue to delete, edit or whatever they want my posts or anyones elses. There is a group of us who have a message board of our own and we discuss posts here, how we can help, how we can navigate, how we can interrupt, whatever we want to do. So yes you all should be pleased and your egos rubbed a little bit more, in our off time we discuss you all extensivly, we like to for fun develop psychological profiles for you all, from your many posts, your avatar choses, music choices and how you create your pages and if you have blog, OH boy pay dirt time. Thank you for the entertainment

Now excuse me - I need to act like I am all powerful and people actually care of a single word I say. It's a shame I was born with a lack of a brain. Some days I think it might come in handy, but I make do with what I have been given. I'd like to thank AOL for giving me the opportunity to get on this thing you call the internet, cuz it's quite lonely in my parent's basement viewing the Victoria's Secret online catalog. So thinking you people are my "friends" is something my counselor says could help me become normal, and hopefully help me move up to assistant fry cook at the McDonalds.

And we are so concerned that people like you, are developing "psychological profiles" of us. Whatever. Whatever damage you thought you were doing obviously did not work. And your comprehension level must be that of a third grader because you obviously did not understand the purpose of this thread.

Okay I wasn't going to say anythingelse on this subject. And, this will be the first and last comment I make to you wfhn2007. I also know quite a bit about psychology and it appears to me that you are the one with the need to feed your ego. And, to do so at the expense of honest poeple that dedicate endless hours to help others is a very dangerous psychological act within itself. No matter what you think you know  if you are truly commiting these acts it is you that is really being damaged the most. I have lived long enough to know that 1 universal truth does exist. What goes around comes around! It may take years but it will all come right back to you! Mark my words cocerning this and remember that someone once warned you. What a sad life if this is how you choose to spend your time.....I pity you!
Oh also let me say as a former administrator of other groups I must let you know that there are programs available to sites that do allow tracking of ISP's...so don't be surprised if your true identity is found out 1 day. Obviously you are not very familiar with just how very creative programmers are. And this is a rather large group that generates a lot of traffic for their host company. So don't say that you haven't been forewarned if and when this happens! Good luck with what must be a truly lonely life if this is how you seek entertainment!

THREE CHEERS STEELERS! There have been times lately that I go to a thread thinking that maybe I can help or be helped only to find that I don't know what the original subject is at all because of the off topic discussions. I have been very frustrated about this and feel like I am not contributing at all. I have received some great help, support and advise and would like to give it back if I could, but sometimes it becomes very confusing when threads go off topic.

I agree that it makes me frustrated to see off topic discussions on a financial thread. There are PM and QM to talk off topics right? However, I think the senior members have to be stricter and whenever an irrelevant post comes in a thread, we should split it from there and turn the discussion towards the right direction. All the moderators, feel free to PM me if I can be of any help at any point of time.

You guys are a pip to assume I am Doug Danger We guess since he created the most anarchy on this site that anybody else in disguise HAS to be him. Just like you alls ID's we have posted under his also, he is not immune to us,our psychological profiling, or our attempt to impress you people, even though we really have no lives. Actually we had the most fun with him, but if you want to see the pictures, you will need to give a credit card number. So if you all want to give him the credit then go right ahead, we will continue with our group, after we finish making our rabbit costumes.

Did I forget to mention how we all enjoy dressing as our favorite holiday icons and dancing at senior citizen homes? Then we like to stop at Taco Bell and share nachos and discuss how we will take over the world. Ultimately, one of us gets bad gas and we have to abandon the planning for the week. Next month, we are celebrating National Pickle Week. It should be a pip!

(whfn2007's post ignored....)

Back to the subject at hand...I'm all for bringing posts back to the original topic when required. The only problem I've had with that is the people that will then post and call you a "high and mighty mod" or accuse you of thinking you're "all that" or say you're "on a high horse"....I've had all three thrown at me when I tried to re-direct a thread back to the original topic. I stopped doing it after I kept getting slammed for just doing what I thought I was supposed to do.

As far as this wfhn goes, I'm not too concerned by those who have narcisistic personality disorders who think they have a clue on how to develop a psychological profile. Seems to me you watch too much A&E as well as the Court Channel networks. As for the rest of us, we chose to live in reality. Oh and what a PIP that is! And what is even PIPPIER than that, is this, WHO CARES! I am glad you are impressed with yourselves, because trust me, nobody else is.

Back to the purpose of this thread, thank you to all who have responded. It was not meant to be a "dig" at anyone or persons in particular, just a trend I noticed that was causing the purpose of other threads to lose track.

I think if you are trying to re-direct the focus of a thread back to its orginal purpose would be to be very careful on how you communicate this. It can be done without appearing to be on a "high horse" as you put it. I think it can be done without making somebody feel as if you are "pointing the finger" at them. Without coming right out and saying "Let's focus back on the purpose......" Perhaps just post another response with a comment you feel is appropriate for the topic to remind others what the thread is all about.

Thank you for the amusement today especially the moderator who added to our post but do you think maybe next time you would have the rocks to sign your name to your work, as brilliantly funny as it is. Folks, didn't we get points off when we were in school when we didn't put our name on our work. At least that's what I heard. I never really got passed 3rd grade, so I have had to make do with limited intelligence. All I have to say is thank goodness for cut and paste - am I right? You guys are a riot, your a strange bunch of cuss's but still a riot.

Now, excuse me again. My mom needs to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer, so I will need to log off for now. My Packard Bell always crashes when she runs a heavy dry cycle.

We all appreciate the attention from you Mike, since my parents never held me when I was younger. But can you blame them, considering how hideous I was? you just never know who you are looking for though do you. Maybe you should start looking for someone with the complete inability to form a decent thought. Or maybe you should hunt around for a person that likes to think he is all powerful and a great computer hacker, but really I excel at putting a worm on a hook and spend all my time as a master baiter. But I would suspect like us, "Mike" is not your real name it's probably Abhay or Hansaraj, or maybe some other stereo-typical name. Let me grab my white nation guide book and see if I can type up a few more. we will back off now and go back on the side, continuing to analyze the people who come here, you might see our report in the AJP. And when I mean "we will back off and go back on the side", what I really me is that I need to level up my mage in WOW or I will get kicked out of the guild. Take care everyone, Big Brother is watching.

Watch it. Your claims that you may in deed be big brother watching can come back and get you. Just know this pnbt2007, watch your claims, because there are those on here who actually DO work for Big Brother. You might want to keep yourself in check. And yes, Mike does know who this poster is posting this response. So in all actuality, Big Brother is watching you pnbt2007.

I have read enough to develop whats I likes to call mine own psychological profile on these holugins. I affectionately call this diddly, "Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb"

Tweedle Dee
And Tweedle Dumb
Get up off your a$$
And stop drinking that rum

Your liver will thank you
Your brain will freeze
But in time reality will come back
Come back with ease

So for you Tweedle Dee
And Tweedle Dum
Get off your a$$
AND START WORKING THEM BUMS
