Hi all,
Im a 54 year old mother and grandmother. I think I have an addiction to payday loans and it seems to be catching up to me. At first I started taking them out to have a good time. I took my granchildren to Chuckie Cheese, bought more blouses than Ill ever wear and went to Dunkin Donuts almost every day. Well the fun ended when my finance charges came through the bank. To pay for three charges I would take out a loan and when that one was due I would take out another one to pay for that. In total I have 34 payday loans and owe over 10.000 dollars for them. I dont know how I got into this. Its like Im scared everytime the phone rings. Does anyone know where I can borrow money to pay of the 10,000 so they stop calling me?

n2deep ~ Hello and welcome. Several of us have been in the payday loan cycle and it is very scary because these people are mean and very threatening. In order to help, we will need alittle more information from you.

What state are you in?
Who do you have the loans with (and are they internet or storefront)
How much have you borrowed from each one?
How much have you paid each one?

A lot of the information you can get from your bank statements or if you can access you account on line, you should be able to get the information.

Also you might look into closing you account so they cannot take any more funds from you account.

You have come to a good place for help, information, support and encouragement. You will get through this.

N2Deep--
I am so glad you are here! First off, Your last post mentioned Sonic. If you have them, they are an internet lender, not storefront. A storefront lender is one where you actually go into a building to take out the loan and an internet loan is one you take out with your computer.
What you should do is list all of your loans and document whether they are storefront or internet. Storefront lenders are licensed to do business for the most part in your state, and as such should be dealt with first. IPDL's are not for the most part, but you need to check this information and you can do this on this site.
You also need to document the amount of each loan and how much you have actually paid on each with rollovers. You might have already paid them off in full and as such, you need to demand that each lender mark your account paid in full--or else file with your state's attorney general.
And lastly, you MUST close your checking account, open a new one and DO NOT give out the number. This is an important first step to getting control of your finances back.
Many of us here have been or are in your shoes, so please post back often, OK? Good luck to you.

Thank you so much sweety. I have a few questions. Why do I keep having to type in my name. I want to just be signed in constantly.
Sorry about the confusion about storefront, I had no idea what they meant. Like I said I is out of the UK and all this bologna is driving me mental. I mean one day I feel like eating some jujubees and the next day I am paying 3 times the amount for those jujubees. Its total rubbish.

Awesome work Irish, I was reading this thread and thought this poor woman, I feared we would not be able to help her at all. At work, even if I can't get a solution to someones problem, I try to put a resource in their hand that will lead to the answer. I never let anyone leave empty handed. Great job!

I totally agree. Well done, Irish. Now let me pose an interesting question to the group: An obvious big problem in the US with PDL's is the offshore crowd, located for the most part in the UK--and I'm talking about Sonic, Cash Today, Rio, among others.
Now would these companies be licensed in the UK--so would they be considered legal there and have to follow UK laws?
