recieved a call about my hubby debt,I ask the man on the phone to please call back in an hour and half so he would be home.I was told in a rude voice mam I don't have the time to call him back with all the other people I have to call so do you have permission to speak to me about his debt and I said no so he said get him on the phone now and I said sorry he is not here but he will be back in a little over an hour ,so he got rude again and said you take my number down and have him call me and I said no you call him back so then he said well you do not have permission to speak to me and I said I told you that in the first place and then I hung up.
Why are collectors like that and why don't they want to call the person back when you tell them what time they will be back?

I answer phone again not knowing the number and the same man said you are not who I want to talk to and hung up on me,so I call the number back and it was the collection agency that called earlier in the day.
I ask why did you hang up and he said it is none of your dam business.I don't believe recording is legal in my state,I live in the state of Fl and have to check into this.My husband is home and he has been answering every phone call that has come through but this man has not called back again which would make his 3rd time.

In Florida, you have to take the consent of the debt collector before recording the conversation. Don't feel afraid in doing it. The person you are speaking with is breaking the federal laws by harassing and intimidating you. Take notes when he calls next time with date and time. You may hire an attorney and file a case against that collection company.

I think that person from the collection agency will sound decent when you let him know about your actions. Also tell him that you will be calling your state attorney general and report their actions with proof. Ask your husband to send a debt validation letter to their mailing address because it is your right to know about the debt for which they are doing collections. Be aware of your federal rights while dealing with these people.
