My office has had 2 calls today. Each time they ask for the owner or the office manager. The first call gave me his name as Brando Braganca and he was with "JMJ Technical Services". When I asked him what he was calling in reference to, he asked me if I was the office manager and I told him yes, and then he told me "No you aren't you liar" and hung up on me. This call came in Friday. Today we had a call from someone named Eric wanting to speak to the owner or office manager and when I asked him who he was with, he hung up. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I tried looking up JMJ Technical Services and really couldn't find anything. Even tried the name, and got all kinds of stuff pertaining to Marlon Brando and some other stuff for a Braganca, but nothing with the 2 names together. Not sure if they are calling for me or someone else, so am trying to find out. Just curious if anyone has had a call from either of these guys or from the company. Now I will tell you, both times, it sounded like someone was trying to disguise their voice for some reason.

We don't have caller ID, when I hit star 67 no number. As a rule, at our office, we have to ask who is calling and who they are with before any other information is given. The first call sounded real fake so that is why I was trying to get additional information from them and then they get all hateful and accuse me of being a liar. Thing is, I AM technically the office manager, but with fighting these pdls, I really try to screen the calls as much as possible.

Just curious, you don't have to answer but if you are fighting the pdls and they have become so obnoxius to be calling and hounding you at work, have you contacted a company that could help you deal with them, such as langhorne? I was at that point and have been working with langhorne for the last 6 months, currently in the actual settlement phase of the program, and have only gotten 2 calls the whole time and each time I just referred them to langhorne, and have never heard back from them.

Actually I have already taken care of them. I am in NC, so plds are illegal and I have already paid them and then some. Route66 tries to get more money once in a while and there is one more that has already said they were turning me over to collections, but they too have been paid. I have been taking care of this since I came to this board. Midland, which is the one that said they were turning me over to collections is one I have been having words with through the BBB. They had agreed to close my account, but am waiting to hear if they are going to mark it PIF before I accept their answer. Route66, well they can kiss my behind because they were overpaid and refused to respond to any complaint. I am not saying that these people are from one of these 2 pdl companies, but I want to know first and if they are not after me, I still do not give out information in regards to any of our employees. I don't care who they are or how nasty they get, they will not get the info. I was just curious if anyone had heard about these people and who they are. We get a lot of "bogus" calls anyway, but when someone calls me a liar and hangs up on me, that puts a bigger red flag out to me. Heck as far as I am concerned, I am totally out of the pdl thing. I have a new account at a totally different bank and no one is getting that information. Anyway, was just curious.

Most of the time telemarkets call and want to talk to the owner of our company or want to see us software or small business insurance, etc, but we are not a small company...our home office is in another state and we have offices all over , well here in the east anyway and there is talk of expansion. I just refer them to our home office and most of the time I get, "Oh, you are a corporation?" and I tell them yes, and then they hang up or we get those dang automated things, which I hate. I figure this is some collection agency, but the disguised voices really bothered me. And then the first guy with his name....well that was a little fishy. I could give them to my boss, but I don't think they would like what he had to say either.

I just love those collectors that use obviously phony names, John Smith is one of my favorites(the guy had an accent from another county!) like yah right. When I used to do collections I would just use my 1st name and that was ok with the company I worked for. I can understand using the phony name, there are some psychos out there and collectors push people(most of us on the brink anyways)even further towards the edge.

Many moons ago I worked for a small collection company and we only used our first names also. Funny, the first guy did have some type of accent. I think he was trying to have an "English" accent, but his voice sounded so face and really like he was disguising it. Second guy, really couldn't tell what his accent was suppose to be but he too was disguising his voice, of course he hung up as soon as I asked what his call was in reference to.
