Is the collection agency breaking collection laws by requesting my credit report? How can I have the request removed?

No, if they legitimately own the debt, then they are entitled to pull your credit report. I do not believe you will be able to have the inquiry removed. The only exception I can think of would be if your state laws prohibit any type of collection activity once the SOL has expired.

I think the debt is an old credit card from 1999...if so, the SOL expired in 2003. It maybe my ex's old credit card account(which has my name on it) I will not be paying this debt.
