You need to go and follow through with this. I would not let it go. Maybe you can file for Bankruptcy. I don't don't know your situation. I know it may be different. I've had a card with Discover and they will try and get their money. I had them call me from a lawyer's office and they set me up with monthly payments. I'd lost my job and had no money hardly and they put me on a hardship plan. I pay this until my account will be paid in full. I'm going to school now and they have to take what they can get. Try and work out some kind of settlement if you can but you need to go through and do what the judgement says. You don't need to get into trouble and get sued. And I think they can garnish your wages too. Good luck and let us know what happens!

I agree with the above poster. Try to contact them and see if you can make some arrangements for monthly payments. They will file a judgement against you and garnish your wages. I'm not sure about the laws in Louisiana but I know it is legal in my state. The best of luck to you and let us know what happens.
Yes Louisiana is a wage garnishment state, they can take no more
Yes Louisiana is a wage garnishment state, they can take no more than 25% from your pay. This is disposable income, retirment (401 K etc) is exempt. I don't know anything about Louisiana law, but do show up for the court date. Some states have hardship provisions which might help you. Also, do what the other posters said first. As I said before, judges like to see that some effort has been made to settle before it gets to court. This can only help you.
