So I filed a complaint about GFSIL to my state's AG office. Here is the letter I just received:

Quote:
The Consumer Protection Division reviewed your complaint against Global Financial Services. A copy of your complaint was forwarded to Global Financial Services requesting a response. I am responsible for investigating and mediating your complaint.

Your complaint was reviewed by a Deputy Attorney General for possible legal actoin. Based on our review, there do not appear to be any legal violations within our jurisdiction that we can pursue in court. We are, however, attempting to mediate a reasonable resolution of your complaint with Gobal Financial Services.

In addition to participating in our mediation program, you may want to contact a private attorney or your local small claims court for possible remedies that are not within the jurisdiction of this office.

Upon receipt of a response from Global Financial Services, you will be provided with a copy of the response for your review.

Thank you for contacting the Consumer Protection Division. We will make every effort to assist you in resolving your complaint.

---Is it just me or are they saying there is nothing they can do?

KS, You are exactly right. It has to go thru the right channels. This person is probably in a state where payday lending is legal. That makes it hard for the Attorney Generals to do anything. It does sound by the letter that they are going to try. When the laws of a state dont help the consumer its very SAD. KYSIDE38

This sounds like a standard response. I have gotten similar letters from my AG's office. I believe it's kind of an update type of thing. It sounds like they are trying to mediate a resolution right now. You have to remember some of these things take time. I've had some go rather quickly and some that take a few months. I've mainly gotten good help from my AG's office. You may also want to file a complaint with your division of financial institutions.

no we have an administrative line...it usually rings to the executive assistant but if hes not avail the office mgr can pick up or even the csr(who are a lower level than i am so that could cause some embarassment). What I dont understand is why your AG's letter worked and mine didnt. I dont see how the hell he can say they are doing nothing illegal!

I never got that letter you received from them...Maybe its the manner in which we filed our complaints or maybe its the wording? I am not sure...Let me ask you this...is GFSIL harrassing you right now? Because they wouldn't even give me the opportunity to come up with money(even though i way overpaid them and was not going to give them another dime anyway)

Yeah, the mediator is the person who handles complaints for the AG's office. As of right now they are not calling, of course that is because I told them I would make a payment on Monday just to get them off my back and stop my work calls for the time being. I'm was hoping to have something done by then but the AG referred me to the FTC and the FTC referred me back to the AG. I'm quite surprised because I've read so many good things about what other's states or the government have done. All I got was basically what I get from any other dealings with state/federal offices: Slow, non-caring, and really ends up doing nothing.

The mediator however did tell me that they are not licensed in my state and that if I filed a suit, I would definetly win. He also informed me that as of 7/1/07, there will be a new law that takes affect that restricts the guidelines on PDL's.

Onionbanjo - I know you are in a difficult situation - Here is an idea - Tell your coworkers and such that your identity has been stolen by some criminal and he took out some shady payday loans in your name. Now the company is coming after you for money, and they won't show any proof that it was you, and won't leave you alone. That way it at least warns all your coworkers of the possible calls, and makes it look like you are an innocent victim of id theft. I'm not advocating lying, but these companies don't play fair and it sucks to have your job put in jeopardy because of something like this.
