So, I consolidated everything through Town & Country to get these internet PDL's taken care of (I live in WI). And, I closed my bank account. However, the bank said that if I get an ACH, it can reopen my account. Is this true? If so, what's the point of closing the account then. The bank would charge me a $25 fee for each stop payment on each ACH.

Yes, it is true!!! Stop payments won't work either, as the pdl's will just use another name or amount. You have to go down to the bank and tell them that these transactions are unauthorized. Print out pages from this site about pdl's taking money from accounts they shouldn't. Tell the bank that you want them to put an ach block, or make your account credit only. There are things they can do to avoid "forced reopenings" of accounts. They won't tell you upfront, you have to ask about it.

This happened to me and instead of oweing idpl's a bunch of money, I ended up oweing the bank!

You need to revoke any authorization to debit your account. Take copies of the letters down to the bank. That is your proof. Let T&C deal with the pdl's, that's what you're paying them for. They will call you, but just refer them to T&C. You can ask T&C about this too.

Credit only works like this - Only deposits can be made into the account. No debits. Period. Nothing can be taken out, unless you go in person and get the block taken off to withdraw money. Some banks also offer an ach block, which only disallows ach transactions.

Okay. What letters do I need to take to the bank? I get paid on Thursday of this week, and I want to have these taken care of before that happens. I mean, I still need to use the account to pay for things, so I need to take money out. I'm sorry I'm so stupid. I just want to get this taken care of, so I can keep my money.

You aren't stupid . . . . Most people do not know banks do this. I wouldn't if it hadn't happened to me!

Write letters to each pdl telling them "I revoke any and all authorization I gave you to debit or draw checks on any bank account I may have." Send these certified mail. Take copies to the bank to prove that you have revoked authorization. Print off some of the info on this site about pdl's taking money out of people's accounts without authorization. Show it to the bank and tell them you are trying to avoid unauthorized and fraudulant transactions on your account. If the bank puts things as credit only, you can still have your check go into the account. Then you can go down to the bank, get the block temporarily removed, and get your money out.

Nevermind. I called the bank and got a "Post No Debits" to the account. So, yeah!! She said that nothing can be done in the account unless I physically go into the bank and tell them to do it. Thank you so much for all of your help! Withouth this website I would have never found out about T&C, and what do with my bank, and getting my finanical freedom back!!

You can say something about wage assignments in the letter. Just also state "I revoke any and all wage assignments I may have signed with Company X". While you are at it, I would also tell them to only contact you through mail, and give them T&C contact info.

You can find some examples of cease and desist contact letters on this site. Do a search for them and you should find some examples.
