1000 a month in interest

First of all, can you tell us more? Are these internet or storefront lenders? Also, what state are you in, and what companies are you dealing with.

I am so embarrassed I cant believe i have allowed myself to get in this bind, please help.

First off,
Don't be embarrassed. Alot of us here, including myself, were in worse binds than you. This is fixable. You ask how closing your bank account will affect you--and my answer to you is yes, indeed it will affect you--but for good. You will be making the first step towards taking your life back.
You also need to revoke any voluntary wage assignments you may have signed to take out these loans. You do that in writing with your payroll dept.
And lastly, these companies will start to harass you so you do need to be prepared for that. They want to be paid, as I'm sure you're well aware. Total up what you've paid them in fees since you took out the loans, and if you've paid back the principal plus legal interest, demand that your accounts be marked Paid in Full, or you will file claims with your state's attorney general's office.

And please do not let them intimidate you! That is what they want!

So don't be embarassed...you are among friends!! Many of us have been in the same boat as you!
