I would recommend contacting the financial dept in your state and asking what they recommend...in the states without laws its hard to say what can and cannot be done. Storefronts will take you to court civily for their money if need be. Internet ones generally are operating illegally anyway so they really don't have a leg to stand on

Cashnetusa is operating legally in your state, so I would concentrate on paying them off first. Check on the licensing status of the other companies. If they are licensed to lend in your state, move them to the top of the list. If they aren't licensed, then they can't do much but harrass you into paying, so move them to the bottom of the list.
You will also want to consider closing your account. This will allow you to regain control over your finances. When you close the account, be sure to ask your bank what their policy is on ach transactions going through on closed accounts. Some banks will "force" open the closed account and allow the transaction to go through. Then you owe the bank instead of the pdl! If you bank does do this, ask them to put the account on deposit only before closing it. This will make it so that money can only go in, the only way you can take money out is going into the bank and having the hold temporarily removed.

Debtinwi - Just so you know that all is not lost just because your state has no good laws, so does mine. I had 10 pdl's a couple years ago and managed to take care of pretty much all of them (Route 66 stopped calling me, which I consider a win). So it can be done, and the key is really if they are licensed or not.

If you go to paydayloaninfo.org and click on your state, there is a link to go to a licensee database. The info should be there, and if it's not, contact your state's banking dept and they can tell you.

Ok, I just checked and Payday Select or any of their affiliates (Payday one, payday ok, etc.) are not licensed. What do you recommend I say? Do you think they will work with me over the phone?

You could try over the phone, but putting things in writting is best, as you will have proof of what was said. I would try a phone call, and follow up with a letter. I would just say something like "I've been doing some research into the payday loan laws of my state and I can't find your license to lend here? Can you give me your license number?" If they say they don't have to be licensed in your state, tell them that you know that isn't true, that they must be licensed in the state they are lending in, and that you are going to be filing complaints with your state's attorney general's office. Be sure to also file these complaints.

I'm not sure if that is the same company. Hopefully someone else will post here if they know for sure. Do you have the rest of the address? I thought Payday Select/OK was located in Deleware . . . . Could be wrong though . . .

If I have paid Netcashusa $300 on a $250 loan and I know they are not licensed can I work with them for a paid in full or am I asking too much?

That is not asking too much . . . . The way I see it: The company is not licensed to legally lend to WI residents. Therefore, they cannot legally charge interest. So since you've already paid more then you borrowed asking them to mark you PIF is totally fair.

I have e-mailed very professionally worded letters to Payday Select, Netcashusa and Paychecknow#2 requesting either paid in full or settlements. Thank you for your advice "goudah2424". I will keep you posted on what happens. I must say that this website has been so informative and helpful. I have really learned a lot.

In WI if you did a search for a payday loan then they don't have to be licensed but if you answered an e-mail then they do have to be licensed. If they sent you an e-mail keep it an make sure you send a copy of that to the DFI. You can also make a complaint to the DFI. Because if you send a complaint to the AG they will send it over to her anyway.
Here is her info

Call her and tell her your situation and she will be able to let you know if they are licensed to lend in WI.
The more complaints we get the more the state will know the problems that are out there with internet loans. WI needs to change some laws so keep contacting them about your situations with PDL's.

Thanks goudah !!!
Thats ok if you don't remember you can let her know that you may have responded to an e-mail. Also when sending out any letters to any of these companies make sure you keep a copy of them for your record. But please call her. She knows how to get in contact with these people and she can even send out letters to them.
She has sent out letters for me and I have yet to hear anything from those companies.

Thanks. I have gotten a response from Payday Select for a payment plan settling at $396 - the current balance due. I am still trying to get a paid in full or better settlement. I have paid them over $600 so far on a $350 loan!! At least they are responding.

After looking over their websites I found another e-mail address for Netcashusa so I forwarded my original message. My e-mail was just returned as "invalid address." And, Paychecknow.com is a member of the BBB with an AA rating???? But yet they have no info on licensing. I find it hard to believe.

I sent many emails to some pdl companies that I never heard back
I sent many emails to some pdl companies that I never heard back from until a week or two after I defaulted so that could be very possible. Also, I think sometimes they just don't check or answer emails. They are afraid of what people may be writing about. Give it time...they will contact you eventually. You can keep emailing them daily if you want. That is what I did-but I was not dealing with the same companies as you.
