I live in North Carolina and need to know if I stop my payday loans now, what will they do to me.

I am also in NC.

Who have you borrowed from
How much have you borrowed
How much have you paid back

Make sure you file complaints with the Attorney General. Send letters to these companies revoking your authorization for them to debit your account and any wage assignment along with revoking any permission for them to contact your place of employment or employer. Take a copy of this to your bank and fill out paperwork to get these people blocked. Suggestion, the best thing to do is close your account out to keep them from getting any more of your money and open a new account. But while this is going on, maybe the bank can reverse any future transactions with the letters (will need one for each pdl company), that will help.

They cannot do anything to you. You won't go to jail, no one is going to come knocking on your door or anything like that. They are operating illegally in NC.

Sorry, had to do something. Anyway, they may tell you that they are not in NC and not doing business in NC, but they are. If they contact you (in NC), deposited money into your account (in NC), are debiting your account, (in NC), they are doing business in NC.

The most they can do is call you and harrass you, but please take the time to read some of the threads about some of the stunts these people will pull and arm yourself. Knowledge is the best weapon and if they call, let them know that they do not scare you at all and be stron.

I was in the same situation. 1st - close you bank account, 2nd - write the attorney general's office asap. They took immediant action when I contacted them. One of the PDL's continued to harass me, so I sent the AG's office all of her ugly emails and they sent then another letter threatening prosecution, they stopped.
