But she has virtually nothing for the baby, and doesn't have the money to get the needed items. She is in need of a stroller, car seat, crib, baby boy clothes, blankets, bassinet, toys, and a bunch more things that I don't know she needs because I've never had a baby.
If anyone has any baby items that are no longer needed and they can donate it would be much appreciated. Anything at all would be a help. Please PM me or Sassnlucy or post here if you have something you can donate.
But please, serious offers only . . . . I'd hate to get a pregnant woman's hopes up that we found her a crib only to find out that it's not really coming.

Goudah, have you tried looking on craigslist.org? The main page shows all the different states and sometimes you can find free stuff on there. Grant it, some of it is junk, but sometimes you can find some pretty good stuff.

There are alot of "helping" agencies in place for things likethis too. My neice was in the same boat, and they got her just about everything she needed. Her income was next to nothing, so she continued to receive vouchers for formula,etc..Karen

Someone PM me as to who it is and I'll donate points. By the way, as to utities, rent, etc, many areas have "Good Samaritan" stores and services, which do this as well as supply food. Contact some large church and they should know the location of such a place (because most are run by groups of churches, though you don't have to have any religious leanings yourself).
LawStudent, I just sent you a pm. Thanks for offering to donate!

Here there is the salvation army that helps low income along with the county. She may be able to get some type of assistance through the city or county or state. I would also contact any and all churches in the area.
There is a program here that is called WIC (women, infant, children) you can get vouchers for milk, cereal, eggs, cheese, formula. Then there is rental assistance, through the county, Heat assistance, through the county also. Then there are food stamps and AFDC (aid for dependant children) both through the county. Thats what the programs are called here.
Donated my points to her also.
puddlejmpr, thanks! She will really appreciate that!

To everyone who helped me: I cannot thank all of you enough. Yes it is me(most of you probably knew that)who is in dire need of assistance. I cannot tell you all how much your help is appreciated...I love you all so much for everything! God bless each and everyone of you!

So . . . The time is drawing near for the baby to arrive . . . . At this point there is no more income coming in, and so far government assistance and such has been denied. The problem is when working she makes too much to qualify for low income programs. But she won't be working . . . . Every option and suggestion has been tried, but to no success . . . .
I'm not trying to draw up sympathy or anything, but imagine how scary it would be about to be having a baby, not knowing how you will pay next months rent, buy food, keep the electricity on, ect . . . . No realy help from family. Almost competly alone.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for the next couple months . . . . And again, any donations of points or baby items would be greatly appreciated. Just PM me or Sass for more info.

Could Leah get temp disability through work? I know that my sis-in-law work classified her maternity leave as such - not sure if that helps. In Illinois there is public aid - and they do have some sort of vouchers - not sure what state Leah is in - I haven't been on so much lately - and I may have missed some info

Check into Social Services, here we have a program for Women and Children, and all are helped. The fact is, she won't be working, so she could at least get temporary help and assistance. When I divorced many years ago, I had nothing but a borroed lawn chair, TV trays and mattresses on the floor. I got temporary help until I went back to work..Karen
