Alright it is time for the HAMMER to drop on another collection agency. I have gathered background material on Legal Mediation Practices and forwarded to our reporter who's email address is on page one of this topic. It is gonna be the same procedure for all victims of LMP. File complaint with the Florida Ag,The Florida dept of Financial regulation, and the better business bureau.Once you are finished with complaints, email the reporter your individual stories with as much factual details as you can. Here are the complaint links.

some jerk by the name of " tom jackson "calls me at work threating to arrest me for a loan from sgq today. first he puts me on hold for 5 min., gets back on the phone and proceeds to threaten to arrest me. of course i started to ask questions and he tells me to stop interrupting him and to just listen and that we were going to go on HIS pace not mine. oh hell, no! i thought. so i tell him, look, you call me at work, put me on hold and now ur telling me that we are to go according to YOUR pace? i dont think so. we're going at MY pace! why dont you cut ur scare tactic bullshit ( sorry if im offending anyone but thats how it went ) and tell me what you want. of course he kept on with his threats and tells me i HAVE to pay today or i'll be arrested. i told him i wasnt going to pay til friday...not today ( which is wednesday ), not tomorrow but friday. i also told him that i did not appreciate the way he was speaking to me and that i wanted his supervisor's name. little did i know then that theyre all a bunch of scum. he said that he was the lead investigator and has been doing this for 26 yrs and if i didnt pay, id get arrested. i said, you mean to say if i didnt pay, you wouldnt get your commission! and if uve been doing this for 26 yrs, you should know what ur doing, harrassing me and threating me at work is illegal right? *so pissed off at this guy, im now twitching* he ignores me and back to the threats. so i tell him, look ****, you obviously dont want to cooperate so go ahead to send the cops. i'll be waiting for them.* silence from the dark side* uh, what? he says. so i repeated myself. i said send them. THEN his attitude changed. like he had no idea what to say. Uh... okay. and so i hung up on his hitler ass.
sorry so long winded but man! he pissed me off! i feel so much better knowing that im not alone. okay, so besides emailing this reporter, what else should i do? i owe these guys $350. i just want to pay that off and get them out of my life. any precautions? sorry i havent read all the comments. help!

Actually, you'll probably get more than one member to help you out. I just had to post and say WAY TO GO. You did great on the telephone call! Hang in there for just a bit & you'll get some responses to your question! :D

Next time, tell him "go ahead, arrest me". Consumer debt is a civil matter, not criminal. Indeed, he is the law breaker by suggesting criminal action.

Tell him you are not allowed to take calls at work, and send it in writing (return reciept), tell them also you'll only deal with them in writing. If they call after getting this letter, sue them.

This is for cajun and others interested, though cajun has probably already seen this, as he subscribes to InsideARM as well.

Florida AG Keeps Hitting Jacksonville Collectors
December 3, 2007

Jacksonville, Florida's growth as a financial service center has meant greater scrutiny of collection agencies there by the state's attorney general.
by Patrick Lunsford
insideARM.com
December 3, 2007
The Attorney General of Florida has four cases pending against collection agencies in Jacksonville as the city grows to become a major player for financial call centers in the state. But the office of Florida AG Bill McCollum says he doesn't have anything against the city.

In July, Bill McCollum, Florida????????s AG, filed a $1.3 million lawsuit against Bass & Associates for what he said were ???????egregious breaches??????? of the state????????s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and violations of the Consumer Collections Practices Act and the federal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act ("State AG Suing Collection Agency for $1.3 million," July 3). A January hearing is scheduled for McCollum's request to shutter Bass operations during the investigation.
Just last week, McCollum's office announced a settlement with Allen Lewis Associates for around $51,000 ("Florida Collector Settles with State AG," Nov. 29). McCollum had charged the company with deceptive business practices.

According to a spokesperson in the attorney general????????s office, McCollum currently has four cases pending against debt collection agencies in Jacksonville. In addition to the Bass and Allen Lewis cases, investigators are looking into JBC Associates and Ellis Crosby & Associates, according to The Florida Times-Union. Ellis Crosby was sued back in 2005 under Attorney General Charlie Crist over excessive consumer complaints and fdcpa violations. McCollum's office could not confirm if its current investigation is an extension of the 2005 case.

The spokesperson said that there isn't a specific reason for the cases against the four agencies. ???????The companies just happen to be in Jacksonville,??????? she said.

The recent trend could be a result of the growth of the collection market in Jacksonville, said the spokesperson. ???????The city is a large financial services call center area,??????? she said.

The chief operating officer of one of the largest collection agencies in Jacksonville agreed. ???????There is a lot of collection activity here,??????? said Kirk Moquin of Enhanced Recovery Corp. ???????But a lot of it is first party work. Citigroup, Bank of America and others have call centers here. So I guess many collection agencies are sprouting up out of that.???????

Enhanced has some 400 employees in the Jacksonville area in two offices. The company is opening another call center next year in Waycross, Ga., a town about 75 miles from Jacksonville.

Moquin is not overly concerned with the attention Jacksonville agencies have been receiving. ???????We have a very strong compliance department. We do not operate in a ???????gray area???????? when it comes to compliance, so we will continue to operate that way,??????? he said.
