I had some financial issues late last year and took out 2 payday loans to cover them. Well, every payday I had to take out a couple more to cover those and my bills. I ended up with 9 loans. Worst mistake ever. Anyway, I finally closed my checking account after paying ameriloan $950 on a $300 loan, one click cash got $830 on a $300 loan and more companies did basically the same. I had closed my account and still owed AIP the principal plus ONE fee of $89. I called them to tell them that I would send a money order in the amount of $289 to them the next day. She told me that they have no way to accept payments like that and I have to used a checking or savings account. WHAT?!?!?! Then she asked if I had a new account. I lied and told her no. She then asked if a family memeber or a friend could let me use their account to process the payment. I had to laugh. Like I am going to get my family and friends involved with these crooks. She then told my balance will go up everyday I don't make my payment and I will be charged with 'intent to steal'. Whatever. I called back and left a message and told her that if she wants her money she had better figure out a way to accept a money order. Is that the right thing to do? I don't want this on my credit. I don't want to be in any trouble and I DO want to pay my debts. But, I am not going to pay all of

the ILLEGAL fees they charge. BTW.. I live in California so I do know that rollovers are not permitted. Then there is the Bass and Associates story. For another day......

I am really glad I found this site. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who has gotten in over their head.

Hi kristen, welcome!! You absolutely did the right thing. My take on this is if they want your money, they will supply an address and let you mail a money order. You go girl!!! Make sure to file a complaint against these companies with the CA attorney general. I heard that CA is really cracking down on them. I am so glad that you found this forum. Stick around, there is always more to learn :) and we would love to hear about your Bass and Ass. experiences.

You have done the right thing and stick to your plan. Tell AIP that you have closed your checking account and you don't have any other account to use. If they really want their money, they should give their money order receiver id.

I don't feel AIP is licensed to lend borrowers in your state. Check them with your state Dept of Financial Corp and the attorney general. If you find they are not a licensed business, then they have no rights to add interests and fees on your account. Ask them for the contract copy to prove whether they are a licensed business in your state.

I experienced the same thing with AIP . . . . I called them back and asked to speak with the contoller. I told them that the CS rep told me I must pay with a checking account, and that per the EFTA they cannot require me to pay that way. The controller apologized, and then told me she would consider my loan paid in full. I didn't even ask . . . I was shocked!
