the ILLEGAL fees they charge. BTW.. I live in California so I do know that rollovers are not permitted. Then there is the Bass and Associates story. For another day......
I am really glad I found this site. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who has gotten in over their head.

Hi kristen, welcome!! You absolutely did the right thing. My take on this is if they want your money, they will supply an address and let you mail a money order. You go girl!!! Make sure to file a complaint against these companies with the CA attorney general. I heard that CA is really cracking down on them. I am so glad that you found this forum. Stick around, there is always more to learn :) and we would love to hear about your Bass and Ass. experiences.

If they really wanted their money, they would take a money order...I would send it anyway certified mail and keep copies of everything that way you can prove its paid...they want your new account information so that they can continue to scam you and steal your money

You have done the right thing and stick to your plan. Tell AIP that you have closed your checking account and you don't have any other account to use. If they really want their money, they should give their money order receiver id.
I don't feel AIP is licensed to lend borrowers in your state. Check them with your state Dept of Financial Corp and the attorney general. If you find they are not a licensed business, then they have no rights to add interests and fees on your account. Ask them for the contract copy to prove whether they are a licensed business in your state.

I also live in California and have a current claim filed against ameriloan with the California AG. I would send that money order and make sure that you have a copy of it before you do. Also, like other posters have said, make sure that you send it certified mail, signature required.
I experienced the same thing with AIP . . . . I called them back
I experienced the same thing with AIP . . . . I called them back and asked to speak with the contoller. I told them that the CS rep told me I must pay with a checking account, and that per the EFTA they cannot require me to pay that way. The controller apologized, and then told me she would consider my loan paid in full. I didn't even ask . . . I was shocked!
