The address they gave me was:
P.O. Box 219050
Houston, TX 77218
But the phone number they were calling from was 312-768-5603 which I believe is Chicago.
They called me May 1 about an overdrawn bank account (don't have one anymore, paid it off). I asked them to send something in writing which by law they must do in 5 days. They called again May 10. Still no letter. Of course they say they sent it.
Was just wondering if anybody ever heard of them. Am going to send a DV but want to make sure I have the correct address. Thanks!
this is the address listed on their website.MRS Associates Inc.

rlq not to rain on your post, but I have heard that ripoff.com is under investigation for some kind of scam where they post bad rep and company pays them to change the wording on the site. I don't have any proof of this ,just rumors.

The company would have to prove that damages were done, and that would be a stretch for some CA whose reputation preceeds it. Just some tactic, like the ones who threatened suit against this site. They don't want the truth out there.
Still at it
Lets face it guys the industry will never change. I was a former director at MRS and most collection agencys operate the same I am still in the business as a gm I know Saul Rick and Jeff Freedman and at one time considered them friends but as you know things happen during the course of business. But the websites that Personally insult these people are ridiculous I see more emphasis on finding loopholes than finding constructive ways to pay off debt. My collectors are taught to send people out to get money from family and I will do this till the end of my career it remains the most effective and most proven collection technique in the business. Sure MRS hires 70% of its staff from Camden NJ the 3rd most violent city in america and the city of brotherly love but please give it a rest. This war between Debtors and collectors will be fought and laws will change but we will never stop their are still the great slop of society that still makes this job easy.
are you saying you send people to collect from someones family?t
are you saying you send people to collect from someones family?that is unethical. as for slop i think the ca are the slop. not everyone that owes debt is scum ,most want to pay their bills but with all the dirty ca's out there they find it hard. all this site is doing is asking them to validate the debts.i have never saw anyone on this site that says do not pay if it is indeed your debt.

I am certain that that is an industry standard. I had to do it...didn't feel too great, but I did need a paycheck. d_c is correct...sending a debtor to friends/family does build urgency, and does generate more collections.
To cajun, ripoff has responded to the rumors stating that they are just that...rumors, that the ill reported companies have started to try to discredit the site. Still don't know if it's true, but I tend to believe that enough companies do enough bad things that a website such as ripoff need not extort them.

What...are you collecting on PDLs, from unlicensed, usurious lenders using dubious business practices? Those would be the only debts most, if not all of us advocate paying on different terms than what the PDL/CA attempt to EXTORT.
To our esteemed guest,I could care less where a collector comes
To our esteemed guest,I could care less where a collector comes from and what their personal life is about.Every living breathing person has had their share of both good&bad things happento them. When collectors follow the law, they have no need to worry about consumers being informed about their legal rights.I think congress needs to put more teeth in this law myself because the damages are too small to promote changes.

I am sorry..Did I just get called slop? I mean really...I realize you have a job to do because but it has become apparent to me that most collectors(not all!) have nothing better to do with their time than threaten people. I had a collector calling my cell for my brother in law(how the heck did they get my cell number???) Trying to tell me that if his debt didn't get resolved, they would have him arrested...Ok first of all-that was highly illegal and second of all-i have my own bills to pay, does that collector honestly thing That I am gonna run out and pay my brother in laws bills? Um no!
Good point
Well any collector who is stupid enough to threaten criminal action and or debtors prison should be sued. And contrary to the opinions here, their are a few points here to consider. one out of the 10 million dollars in debt my dept sees every month we are lucky to recoup 250-300k a month. two their are still a lot fo individuals that are taking on large loans while on disability incomes and various other sources. And three their are still many cases of straw auto purchases being conducted by 17yr old kids and their 79 yr old grandmothers. when we come across situations like this 9 times out of ten no one wants to pay their is a problem with education people still beleive because that because they co-signed for a loan they are not responsible. And yes their are a lot of uneducated, slimy individuals, they i would categorize as slop. their is no reason someone should walk into a car dealership sign the dotted line guaranteeing a loan than rinigging on the agreement becuase their idiot grandson loses the vehicle. That is not an fdcpa issue that is a moral right and wrong issue. I cannot speak for the other agencys out their but my staff does not threaten to have people arrested...but I will say this to all of those people that sign contracts with no ability to pay them I instruct my people to spend an extra effort to make their life a living hell. And to all those people that fall into this category stop making everyones life more expensive because of your incompetence
debtor
And what company do you work for debtor_converter? I'm sure your company follows the fdcpa to the letter, yeah right. You can't make someone's life a living hell without breaking the FDCPA, sorry. I'm sure you enjoy going after these grandmothers and people on disability, wow you must be so proud of yourself. That takes a lot of courage. You really are no different than the debtors you talk about. With your statement like that you are the one who is the undeducated, slimy slop.
Your really need to get a life instead of treating people like that. Its interesting you talk about morals and right and wrong, but there is never any reason to make someones life a living hell because of an unpaid debt.
To make someone suffer like that has already violated fdcpa and
To make someone suffer like that has already violated fdcpa and you should take note that damages on lawsuits are getting larger.Arrow just swallowed a 100K award recently.Perhaps if you forget the so called moral issue and understand from a business point of view it is a lot better to follow the law than continue to have to settle suits for violations.

MRS associates main office might be in NJ but this call came from Chicago routed from India. They're sounding more and more fishy to me all the time. Still nothing in writing. I suggested they call the bank they are collecting for and confirm that I paid. They claim there are no branches of the bank in Ohio and that they are not allowed to call the bank they are collecting for. Doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, sending DV to Houston and NJ.

STILL MISSING THE POINT
Well all valid points im sure but We havent paid out a lawsuit in about 5 years. Unlike some of the other clients out their we do not make idle threats we do sue people. And as far as grandmothers on disability and what not your damn right they deserve no sympathy. their is no reason a person who draws disabilty should even attempt to take out a 30k loan..WOULD YOU LIKE TO ME GIVE THEM A MEDAL OR THANK THEM FOR DEFRAUDING MY CLIENT IT DOESNT WORK THAT WAY.

There is no point in you posting here as I will ensure all who read are aware of their rights. You make no money being here so why are you here? It only takes one person documenting their experiences with a agency to lose a suit. If I had a debt with you we would be in court already because of the actions you have described are clear violations of factual law no matter whether you like it or not.Another thing to remember is that the debt does not matter when a fdcpa suit is in court.Strict liability means you break the law,you write a check period.
debtorconverter
So, still don't want to say what company you work for debtor_converter. Oh and you might want to ask why your client is giving loans to someone who shouldn't be getting them, unless your clients are people who like ripping people off on loans.
Oh, and they are not defrauding anyone, defrauding someone is a crime and they can be charged criminally. If they were truly defrauding someone they would be charged criminally. Stop being such the drama queen, my goodness.
And you CA's that break the rules deserve no sympathy either.

Hey i work at this company they dont care about anything and the workers are treated like slaves and when you give your checking information they put it in there pc your account # and all they just stopped doing this on 1/10/08 so if anyone had bills with them and gave there checking info not a good idea they have a high tern over rate and employment with then is like revolving doors collection agencies is a good way to harber future id theft people.they cannot do anything but call you over and over again thats the further collection actions there talking about i wasnt going to write this but since .laura the head of the north parsippany nj office is a **** why not expose them .the next time you get a call from them tell them i heard mrs is about to go bankrupt so i will deal directly with the creditor or tell them to go f**k themselfs

I recently had the displeasure of dealing with MRS, earlier this week. I swear there are only 3 guys over there; Desmond, Sam Adams, and some other brilliant barely coherent moron. They each pass each other off to the next as their supervisor, but they never can keep it straight. I even worked out a settlement with them, however, I needed to get it cleared with our client. Over the next 14 hours, they called 9 times, each time I said I would call back after I conferred with my client. They called my client multiple times during this process telling him they would offer him a better deal than what I could get him, which was a lie, they were offering him $1,100 whereas I had a $800 agreement which they had faxed to me. Finally, I told them to cancel the settlement because I didn't want to deal with their un-professionalism anymore. Our other division has been experiencing the same. MRS is on a tear this year.
Bumped their heads.
9 time in 14 hours?! Thats harassment if I've ever heard it.

it is Woodforest National Bank's collection I would assume. They called me about an overdrawn bank account.
cry cry and cry again
who needs collectors? i mean seriously everyone should be allowed to go out and get credit cards and run up the costs and not have to worry about paying all the late charge fees and what they owe. that sounds good. i know that when i borrow money from anyone i never pay them back. its good morals i learned why pay em back im just slime.... or maybe that legal binding contract i signd states i would pay them back the balance in full including all the late fees. collectors have a job, collecting money that people borrowd and havent paid back. im not saying collectors dont bend the rules, but look at world who doesnt bend the rules, and honestly if a phone call a day is ruining your life, than your life must really suck... pay ur bills its not that hard

MRS INC is a collection agency with the main office being in Cherry Hill New Jersey - sad to say, but I used to work for them and while they pitch a month of training and following fcc regulations - they are among the worst of them when it comes to getting the dollar anyway they can!
