Checking account frozen by creditor. It is an account used for ssd payments. I realize these govt. Funds cannot be touched by anyone else. This is my only income.
Unknowingly i have also used it for other purposes besides paying bills, namely some deposits which i
Now find out they can grab.
This is not even my money. I was handling some finances for my elderly mother.
Can i stop my money from being taken?
What are my options legally or otherwise?
What if i just let the account go versus (there deal) paying off monthly for an old debt (5 yrs) with overly added interest and lawyer fees.
The debt will be around $5000. Currently.
I can't pay my bills and am up for eviction for non payment of my rent.
Please help!

This is unusual unless a creditor has revieved a judgment agains
This is unusual unless a creditor has revieved a judgment against you (except in some cases where huge amounts of money are involved, like the Enron guys). I would open a new account at a different bank for the time being. Have the ss payments sent to the new account.
