Ok so i filed my taxes right, was supposed to get back a total of about $376 dollars, was gonna use that to help out while on ML...and GUESS WHAT HAPPENED????
THEY TOOK MY MONEY THAT I WORKED FOR ALL YEAR AND PAID MY HUSBANDS CHILD SUPPORT WITH IT! How in the hel_l is it my responsiblity to pay for his child support with the money I worked for????

So now I don't have any extra money coming in to help while on ML and his lil bratty kids who I don't even see get my money?? and the worst part is, it won't even go to the kids, their mother will use it for her own purposes! HOW IS THAT EVEN RIGHT????

Leah-I just thought of something. A few years ago, my stepdaughter's mom was behind in child support. The state took her and her 4th husband's income tax and it was supposed to come to us. Well she filed something with the IRS I think and told them that the income was not hers, it was her husband's. She was able to get the money back from the IRS. I wish that I knew how she did it but that just proves that it can be done.

cajun that is what I have been trying to tell her too......she needs to find herself a good man!!!!!!!!! I think that there should be a way she could get her money back since my stepdaughter's mother did it. We were pissed because we had been told by child support we were going to have that money and we ended up not getting it because she appealed somehow and got it back.

I know that when you re-marry and the new spouse takes the husband's name and files taxes together, then your income is counted towards his. Which means the more he pays in child support and if you filed joint taxes then they will take that for back child support payments regardless of whether it was earned by you because his name was on the filing. My mother used to work for child support enforcement agency here.

Run - don't walk to the nearest IRS agency. If they see you in person you will get more accomplished. Did you file a joint return? If so that is why they took your money. I know that there is a lope hole, but I would also tell you hubby to get off his dead a$$ and pay his back support. He has another child on the way - please look at this carefully - you could someday be in the position of his ex with alittle on and little or no support from him. Please be careful.

Leah,
I have to file this every year to prevent my income tax from going to my husbands ex-wife. If you are able to go back and change it, I would do it IMMEDIATELY!! I love my step-son, but I will not pay for his other siblings as well, that are not mine nor will I give his mother MY money. RUN baby-girl!
