I have a friend who has check into cash calling her home and work after she verbally told them not to. Is there something she could send or do besides pay them off right now? Also is there any advice on how to handle them, they even came to her house....Come on now this is just ridiculous!

I do know that here in WI there are some payday loan places that do show up at work or your house if you do not answer your phone or call them back. That is one of the couple of steps they take before they take you to court. Another one is they will keep calling your bank to see if the funds are in there and bam, they are there in like 5 min. and cash your check at your bank in person. I would check the laws in your state along with the contract that was signed to see what collections they can and will do. Your friend needs to contact them to try and make arrangements to pay it off. But don't just ignore them because the next knock at the door could result in your friend being served papers for court.

There were 2 women, I talked to them. They asked if my friend was home, and if they could talk to her. I told them no and they handed me a letter with a paper in it and said to have her call when she "woke up" I told them she was sleep. And in the letter it had a late notice with how much she owed and the check number and all that, shouldn't they not just hand that stuff to people who answer the door? What if I had opened it and wasn't her friend or somthing....

Thanks pps! I'll let her know her options, if you have anything else that would help i'm all ears!

They only handed me the letter though, they didnt directly tell me what they wanted to talk to her was about...but handed me a letter...lol...I'll let her know to send a letter directing them to not contact her at HOME Visits, Work, or Home Phone, but only through mail. She's going to pay them but she wants to know if they're violating laws that she should act on, so further people don't get the same thing...By the way I'm in California, so should she still call the cops and file a harrasment report?

I'm in Ohio and when I defaulted on 2 storefront pdl's, (not at the same time) they came to my house. This happened more than once. I was either never home or didn't answer the door. They left a thing on my door saying "sorry I missed you, please give me a call" with the employee's name and phone number. I never knew that was illegal! They were Advance America and National Cash Advance.

I am also in California and I have never heard of that type of behavior. I also had a loan with Advance America which I did default on. I did get many phone calls from them, but I was able to work it out and pay it off in full. My point is that if they did that for everyone who defaulted, they would never be in the office, imho.

Check into Cash went down in WV., This is one desperate company. I would also file complaints with the Attorney General in your state. KYSIDE38

They came AGAIN??????????? I would even investigate calling the police at this point!!!! I've heard of letters, emails and phone calls, but I have NEVER heard of a PDL making a house call!! Does she agree she owes the debt? If so, she needs to contact them to make payment arrangements--and put a request in writing asking that their tag teams don't make another appearance on her doorstep!

Wow when they came to my house, I thought it was completely normal. I wish I had known better then. Come to think about it, YEARS ago when I had good credit, I got offered a job at National Cash Advance. They told me that they do their own collecting and I would have to go to people's houses and stuff.

Good job! The more I think about this situation, the more upset I get. Here is what I think you can get them on: disclosure of her debt to a third party. Even though they gave you a sealed letter, they have no way of knowing that you wouldn't open it , right? I totally get calls, letters, etc. but I really think she needs to send this place a cease and desist letter asking that the housecalls stop.
