I just bought a car (which was a nightmare in itself). I am currently going through the credit repair process and couldn't get approved through conventional means, so I had to buy a car with a small local company that financed in house. Ok, that's fine. But I had to get my insurance switched over to full coverage, and b/c of my credit, it came to somewhere around $1600 for 6 months!!! OMG! My monthly insurance is almost as much as my car payment! Anybody else had this sort of problem, and if so, did you find out a way to work around it? I'm with Geico, btw...

As unfair as it is,insurance carriers are pulling credit for quotes. I have no idea what relation they are using to justify bad credit equaling bad driver.I would do some shopping around with some smaller companies and make sure you ask them about running credit before you get a quote so they don't go willy nilly pulling your report.

I have Geico.....for just liability on 2 vehicles I pay $280 for 6 months and my credit sucks bad!!!!!!!! It was like $120 for full coverage for 2 vehicles. Insurances also depends on your age and what state you live in. Here in Ohio it is pretty reasonable but I know some states where there is a very large number of drivers that are uninsured, such as New Mexico, the cost is much higher.

Have you had insurance before? Depending on the model of the car that too can cause a jump. Check to be sure if you qualify for any discounts - Some companies give good driver, good student, combined coverage. Also you can save some $ if you increase your deductible, I would shop around, some compaies can give you a quick quote without pulling your credit. I don't agree with that myself. Credit has nothing to do with how safe you are. I have seen plenty of people driving like morons in some very fancy cars. Good luck

Give AIG a call. They are, IMHO, a great company to deal with. I first got them when my credit was tanked. But since they rocked, I kept them after my credit rebounded.

I never saw what was so great about Geico in the first place. Even with perfect credit, they are usually much more expensive then most. And tend to drop you like a bad habit for one violation.
