The last 18 months have been extremely difficult. My ex-hubby quit paying child support. I am remarried, and my hubby was in an accident not long after the child support quit coming. He was not seriously hurt, but the financial repercussions were rough. Our insurance covered the cost, but there were deductible, increased premiums, etc. Then, I decided life would be so much easier if I took out pdls to help get through. Now, I have managed to get my bank to stop the pdls from drafting my account and am trying to work something out. But I am now 45 days late on my mortgage and 30 days on my car payment. I feel sick to my stomach and cannot sleep. My mortgage company said there is nothing they can do if my problem is unsecured debt. Well, technically it is! Any advice?

Doherty,
Welcome! You are in the right place. First off, priorities dictate that your mortgage is paid first. SCREW your PDL's! They are going to be paid after your basic needs, OK? And we've all made that stupid mistake, or else we wouldn't be here, right? How many PDL's do you have and how much have you paid on them? Are they internet or storefront?

Thanks for responding so quickly! I have 3 pay day loans. CashnetUSA, USA FAST CASH and PAYDAYOK. PaydayOK has been working with me. Cashnetusa said I could pay with a credit card(I don't THINK so!), but I can send them $$$. They said I can western union it, but i'm sure they must have a mailing address. I owed about 1100 in pdls. Do you have an address for CNUSA?

Thanks so much again for replying so promptly. Here is my exact situation. On the 1st, I am officially 2 months behind on my mortgage. I am 30 days behind on my car payment. Today, I came home and had a 48 hour notice from my gas company. Last week, I spoke to my ex-hubby. My dauther's prom was this weekend. I wasn't going to pay for any of it, she has a job, and I just couldn't. When I spoke to my ex, he said he was sending $1,000.00. I asked him to please tell me the truth. He swore to me he sent it. So, I spent money I didn't have to help my daughter pay to get her hair and makeup done. Guess what. SURPRISE! He didn't send the money. So, I get $630.00 on Friday. I don't know if I should pay my truck payment, my mortgage, or my gas bill. On the 2nd, my hubby and I both get paid. That will be about $1,300.00. My checking account is $200 overdrawn. I have gone to several PDL websites, but backed out. I have enough trouble. The worst part? I can't tell my current hubby how bad things are. He cannot handle stress. AT ALL.

Have to talked to your mortgage company yet? I know some do something, I can't remember what it's called, but they will add the payments onto the end of your loan. Forebearance? I can't remember what it's called.

You need to prioritize your debts. Shelter, food, and transporation come first. Don't pay anything that isn't necesary. Call your truck payment company and the gas company and see if there is anything they can do . . . . . They may be willing to work something out. It's at least worth a try.

I tried talking to my mortgage company and they said I wasn't far enough behind for them to help me. I just got off the phone for my car loan, and they gave me an extension until June 23rd. PHEW! I will call my mortgage company again tomorrow and see what they can do. Can you believe I used to be in the lending business??? I never believed I could EVER be in this situation!

Ichiban, good to hear you backed out of the other PDL sites, that would've just caused more stress..3 pdls won't be too hard to pay off/get rid of, I agree with goudah, you may have already overpaid on your PDL's .

I hope your stomach feels better and you can sleep after reading some of the advice on here! I have 7 pdls out and they have all been eating up my pay checks everyweek. I found this site a few days ago, took some of the member's/posters advice, and now I finaly feel like I'm on the right track to putting this mess behind me and eventually getting ahead. I actually had a nightmare about my pdls, in it I was up visiting my family and my dad and I were out at a resteraunt and I glanced over at the table next to us. There was an Indian man sitting there. He looked straight at me and said (I can still hear his accent, it sounded like he was reading from a script) "You still owe us our money. We need our money" ..and he kept showing up everywhere we went. It was the strangest dream!

I just double checked my child support account. It was just credited with the money from my ex, too! WOW! I am no where NEAR being out of the woods, but I just might be able to make it another week! Now, I just have to take care of all my other stuff. I got a call from the debt people. Now, how badly will my credit be hurt by using them? After this summer, I will have an extra $450/month. Then, I should be alright. I am back and forth about using them. Superior Debt. They say they have an excellent rating with BBB, but I checked their website and couldn't find them.

Believe it or not, I do get my child support through domestic relations. Five years ago, he was 32K in arrears. I agreed to waive 28K (figuring it was money I'd never see anyway) if he would start to pay. Of course, payment has been extremely sporadic. He doesn't hold a legitimate job and he doesn't file tax returns, so there is not a whole lot I can do. Constantly kicking myself now! But, I am almost done with school, and hopefully will be able to go without it from here on out!

And does anyone else feel guilty if they spend $$$ on themselves? I always think "this isn't even my money, it belongs to capital one, or cashnetusa, or whomever happens to be calling me that day!"

If your mortgage is less than a year old, get help now. Have an attorney review your loan documents to see if all the appropriate TILA disclosures were made.

If you are outside a year on your mortgage, refinance if you can and then get to a laweyer within 3 days.

99% of the refinances in this country violate RESPA and you are entitled to recission and clear title under the law.

Thanks. My mortgage is 6 years old, and i have never had problem until the last year. As far as RESPA, I underwrote mortgages at a bank until 2 years ago. So, I did my own. I spoke to my mortgage company, and they will work with me now. THANK GOD! You know, I had NO IDEA so many refis were in violation of the RESPA laws! WOW! When I first started, I worked for a broker, and truly believed we were offering a wonderful service by putting people on adjustable rate mortgages, paying off their credit cards and charging them 6% in origination fees. When I finally realized exactly what we were doing, I felt horrible!

Have you tried to work with your mortgage co. You might try workins something out with them as foreclosures are at there all time high. They might be willing to work with you. How long has you lived in your home? I am sorry about your child, my sister did the same thing to my parents before she got her drug abuse problem under control. You are in my prayers.
