I have a loan out with advance america for $650 with fees that total is $744.75. As of Friday it is two weeks late and I have no money to pay it. Has anyone ever had any experiences with Advance America in this kind of situation. What do you think will happen? Has anyone been able to work out a payment plan? My bank account is still open however I opened another account at a different bank where my direct deposit is going to go from now on. Any advice please let me know

Thanks

What they will do is put through your check. Once the check comes back you will be able to set up payment arrangements with them. The best part is your balance will not go up $94.75 every 2 weeks! You may have to negotiate a bit if you can't afford to pay a decent chunck every month, but they can be worked with.

But if you just ignore them they can and will take you to court.

I placed my defaulted Advance Amercia account with T&C's debt management program to repay the account, and Advance America keeps calling me demanding payment, and have even said they've never heard from T&C about a repayment plan even though T&C tells me they have contacted Advance America and have sent payments to them. Now Advance America is threatening to sue me. I'm not sure what's going on, but that's my experience with Advance America thus far. :(

Contact Advance asap. If you contact them before the check comes back nsf and let them know your situation they will be more willing to work with you. Try and set a reasonable amout to pay them on your paydays. My loan with them, including the late fee and nsf fee was almost $1100 and I agreed to pay them $40-$50 every week, but then I got laid off from my job and told them I could pay them $25 per week and they accepted that. I just paid off my loan and hubbys loan through them last week. If you are honest and can pay at least $100 per month they should be able to work with you. If the store you are through is not willing to work with you at all then as for the district managers number and speak with them. But like goudah said they can and will take you to court.

I have also had experience with Advance America and was able to pay them off. I found that they will put through your check and you will get nastygrams from their corporate, but if you are cool with the branch manager, they will let you pay it off. This is what happened to me and I know it can happen to you.

Advance America is a storefront, and therefore, from my standpoint, they are legal and licensed in the states where they operate. I have yet to see a state where they operated without being licensed - if they did, they were shut down.

Advance will follow the payday laws according to your state. If a repayment plan is specified, they will follow it. Much depends on the branch manager you deal with. If they are a decent person to deal with, you shouldn't have trouble setting up a repayment plan.
