Absolutely!

Morningstar has already suggested for the "ignore" button. We have this task in our "to do" list. I will have an update from my technical team.

Ignore & report to admin buttons are a very common occurance on internet boards. I even post on one that logs each ipaddress for every post.It is not viewable to everyone,but mods and admin have a iptrace soon as you log on.It makes for a well regulated community. Discussions about different topics can be achieved without all the drama going on here.

I suggest a specific Ignore button - "Ignore JediJeff".

I agree that the IP track is an excellant way to monitor and control post. I also visit many forums where you are requested to allow access to your clipboard before you post. Now on a lighter note....jeff you crack me up...thanks for the :lol:

Isn't it ridiculous? People just call them whatever they want. My son is Andrew. He is drew, never Andy. Andy is a man's name, and I don't like it for my little boy. No one cares, though. They just call him that anyway. Drives me nuts. We almost named him Max, but I figured everone would call him Maxi-pad.

Here I go saying what I think, I will NEVER change. SO, you don't like what somebody is saying in a post, why not just go to another and leave it alone? Common sense thought. Just like if you do not like what is on a channnel, change it. This is a public forum, free speech.

I'm going to add my two cents here. I don't think an ignore button is a good idea. I know there has been more drama but get over it. I agree with Steelers on this subject. An ignore button to me will take away from the forum. It will take away from what this forums stands for (at least for me) I'm really getting tired of all this crap and it's ridiculous. If an ignore button starts around here, I'm might as well move on. I really want to say a few choice words right now but I'll leave it alone. Why don't we all just start our own forums?

Personally speaking, I myself don't want this programming to happen. But if everyone wants it like that, I have to work on it.

Before Michelle and Steelers posts, everyone was saying we should have this button because of some negative reasons. Now, I think Steelers and Michelle both make a very strong point.

There is no problem in having a healthy debate. Nothing is implemented yet. Just feel free to have your say.

What are we going to do, simply "bleep" out all posts from individuals we don't like. That will make for a very confusing posts, when you see lots of people responding/making comments to a thread and you have no idea what they're talking about since the original poster was censored.

I agree with Steelers, if you don't like the post, there's already an ignore button that called "back"

Not sure how an "ignore button" works, but clearly a few people will take liberties to hit the "ignore" button on a select few. Don't know if that means once it is hit, everyone will not see that person's posts. Especially if they do not agree or do not have tough enough skin to take some heat. After all, if you can't take the heat on a forum, in a debate or an exchange of disagreeing words, how do you handle real life? I personally do not blocking one's right to free speech, so long as it isn't threatening.

Good point, Steelers and Debtcruncher. What happened to the first ammendment? I guess it doesn't apply around here. I remember when this forum was about helping each other. Now it's about tearing each other apart. No one held my hand when I first came here. People helped me and gave me suggestions. It was kind of like the blind leading the blind but we learned. We helped each other out through our debt problems or payday loans. I'm sure some people will take this the wrong way but that's their problem. If you don't like me, I really don't give a crap. I've reached that point here. I have bigger fish to fry but I've made some wonderful friends on this forum. If you don't like someone's post, simply ignore it now. You don't have to reply and we don't need an ignore button to do that. I'm sure I would be on the top of the ignore list as this point. :lol:

I'd be right next to ya Mishele! LOL. I always say what I think, I never make threats or crude remarks, degrading another. I usually tick people off by speaking the truth as I see it. It offends, well, get some thick skin. How could a person allow what is said on a forum ruin their day or try to create drama? It is ridiculous. And I do believe a select few would take the liberties to hit that ignore button whenever they see specific members' name. Nobody should ever be given the authority to "shut" somebody up for speaking their mind so long as it isn't threatening or degrading. 1ST AMENDMENT

We want each of you to be here. It's sad when someone says about leaving the forums because of the bad comments posted by such and such person. Then only this option came into picture, otherwise it was never discussed till now.

In case, if this option is implemented, we will make sure that it's not disturbing anyone online. This button will just be in a member's personal profile and will leave it on their choice. Others won????????t know anything whatsoever happened.

I believe in the 2nd amendment too, but that's a different story.

I've been threatened by the best of them on here. Nothing like being stalked LOL!!! I would never shut you out though, Steelers. I speak my mind too. I have to remember not to be degrading. Sometimes that's hard for me because I have a quick tongue at times. So I thank you for that reminder.

It's really sad that it's gotten to this point. But I guess some of our opinons don't matter around here anymore. Us oldtimers seem to be treated like dirt anymore. I think it's time for a name change LOL!

I don't think an ignore button is going to solve the problem - it will only allow some to block ones they don't want to see posts from. And what purpose does that serve? Forgive me for saying it this way, but I think that an ignore button would only serve to make a few members happy - and I think that's selfish.

I agree with Steelers & Mishele - if you don't like a post, move on. There are tons of other posts here. If someone says something you don't like, or that you take offense to, don't respond. It's that simple. Every single mouse connected to every single computer in the world is equipped with a magic button. One click, and you remove yourself from the situation, thereby eliminating the problem. YOU control the mouse, therefore YOU control your responses.

If a situation gets out of hand and petty insults start flying back and forth, be the bigger person and leave the thread and find another, where you can be helpful to someone else.

If old timer are no worth, I am in this site before you, Michelle. I will be having wild dreams in my sleep and think where I stand in front of you all. LOL

An ignore button definately isn't the way to go. My feeling is that everyone has a voice and everyone has an opinion--and as long as they are not blatantly disrepectful or hurtful to other members on the board, they have a right to express them.
I personally enjoy it when people on the boards say something like "good point, but what about ??" That is healthy debate.
To quote Mary J Blige, we all "have so much drama in our lives", that the last thing we need is more in one of the few places that is supportive--here. It's hard enough to be in debt and as we all know, it totally sucks, so let's make these boards an oasis away from that stress.

I support the ignore button members should feel free to help people without being attacked by other members.To add to the free speech comment,that only works with the government. This is a privately run forum and if we gave everyone this so called free speech,there would be no reason for moderators or admin. If a person is scared to post because of the drama,either they cannot give or receive help.The purpose of this board is to help and I am dead sick of this old vs new crap. I have written until my hands are ready to fall off that persons should not be judged that way and when it happens the forum itself loses overall.But what do I know,seems like I am just another useless clueless newbie according to some.Guess I am gonna find me another board real soon since I am darn near handciffed around here from doing what I want to do helping people.

People are permitted to post their comments in regards to this thread. And yes, others do not agree with you. However, I do have respect for you and your knowledge Cajun, you are truly altruistic. PM Mike, or whomever, it doesn't matter, they know I will always post my thoughts, and how I feel about what is going on. Let the drama go. Find something useful to do.

Steelers,I thought I posted clear enough.If this truely were a public forum with the full liberties of free speech,we would be unable to remove spam,profanity,etc. Since there are rules we must follow making it private because of the Tos of this site.

This is not a criticism or a nasty comment...just an attempt to keep things focused on what we are discussing - the possibility of an ignore button. Making comments towards someone else's post only causes the thread to degenerate into arguments.

This discussion has been done MANY times. Mike will tell you that it is a public forum. And free speech is allowed unless it is threatening, etc... Truly, if nobody wanted other's opinions on this suggestion, should've been kept private. Once it hits the forum, it is up for public discussion. Am I being clear enough?

I really dont know who you think you are but I never pm'ed MIke about any of this...And I tried to make a peace offering earlier in this thread so you can take my name out of it. It seems that you and a couple of your friends think you can speak to whomever anyway you want and I aint that chick honey! I got enough to deal with in my life...so you can accept my peace offering or not!

Thanks Suebee, this was a good debate among others, including Mike last night. It was going well. You are so right Suebee. It was going well, no arguements and all sides were being listened to.

Continued drama is apparent as evidenced by the repeated, unnecessary posts. Let it go. If you have suggestions and don't want others opinions, again, keep them private. It appears that a few have this bully mentality when it comes to differences of opinions. Diversity is what makes the world great, not bad attitudes.

And as far as the "I ain't that chick honey". What kind of attitude is that for an expectant mother, I hope you do not behave this way once you have children. Honestly, that is some constructive honest advice. That is not very attractive. That is almost threatening in its tone.
